Say Cheese
Last week at ComicsAlliance.com, Andy Khouri posted Kevin Maguire's turnarounds (front, side, and rear view drawings used for visual reference by a sculptor) for the 2009 DC Direct Justice League International action figures. Of course these things look great.
Comics Alliance may have just posted an article about it, and I may have just re-posted it, but there isn't really anything new here. These drawings were made for a set of action figures released 2 years ago. Comics Alliance even notes that they re-posted these images from the (apparently now-defunct) Poytress of Solitude website, where they had been originally posted in 2008.
But there is no shelf life on great art, and if you haven't seen these drawings before, they're new to you! Thanks to loyal Boosterphile Morgenstern for calling these images to my attention.

You Want to Rock?
Booster Gold's not like Batman or Superman. (Yet.) You have to cherish the occasions when you stumble across some pretty Boosterrific stuff. Take for example yesterday's Comics Alliance article about artist Kristin Palach. The article contained the following image:
That's pretty sweet. You can find more of Kristin's work, including a much larger version of this image from January 2, 2009, at her website kristinpalach.blogspot.com.

DC Universe Offline
The long awaited, Booster Gold-including DC Universe Online is being pushed back to a 2011 release. ComicsAlliance.com has the press release, which indicates that the game's release was pushed back for quality assurance reasons. I assume that in this day and age where games are released with complementary bugs that require extensive patching, quality assurance means that they want the game to be bootable, if not actually playable.

Sales Trends Continued
In continuing the discussion of sales over time for DC titles, you may be interested in this article over at comicsbeat.com. Each month The Beat runs a wrap up of month-to-month sales trends that are both illuminating and quite frequently baffling and surprisingly pleasing.
Of course the big industry discussion right now is the sudden lack of sales across the board for August. (More details here, here, and here.) Whether this is due to bad economy + high book prices, buyer fatigue, or the lack of a current mega-event (love 'em or hate 'em, they do drive sales across the board because we fans really are sheep), sales are dead flat.
Rumor has it that Warner Brothers is planning a big restructuring of DC in the immediate future, so don't be surprised if DC responds to this crisis by exploding into other media (movies, television, video games, underoos, etc.).

Party with Booster Gold and Blue Beetle
Last week, Comics Alliance ran an article by Chris Sims about which comic book characters from DC and Marvel would be the most fun to party with. (Booster Gold and Blue Beetle score 3 out of 10 party hats.) While I thought that was news enough to post in and of itself, trying to rediscover that link to post here today accidentally led me to discover Boostle, a Live Journal blog devoted to all things Blue and Gold. A website devoted to Booster Gold? What a great idea!
