Wizard Booster the Gold

Some comic creators run out of ideas. Not Ross Pearsall, whose superhero team-up Super-Team Family Presents... blog is at issue 3523 and counting!

Super-Team Family Presents #3504

Conan's creator, Robert E. Howard, created the mythical Hyborian Age as a lost prehistoric era occurring sometime during the Neolithic period, around 10,000 BCE. It would be an interesting period for Booster to visit, where his advanced technology would be indistinguishable from magic (to coin a phrase).

Here's to 3500 more issues, Ross!

Pizza, Pizza

Ross Pearsall's Super-Team Family Presents... blog is one of the very few site that I visit on a regular basis. It's always worth seeing what inter-company team-ups Ross comes up with, especially when they're this radical:

Super-Team Family Presents #3317

I think it's great to see these signature teams of the 1980s finally come together, even if only in Ross's imagination.

Year in Review 2020

Like my favorite super hero, I'm planning to start the year watching my alma mater play football. In the meantime, I present for your nostalgic enjoyment the 5 most-read Boosterrific.com blog posts of 2020, presented in ascending order of hits:

5. Monday, April 6: This Day in History: Without Great Power
In which we revisited Booster Gold's participation in Justice League Europe #50, his first taste of superheroic action after losing his powersuit to Doomsday. Say what you will about his motivations, but Booster Gold's got guts.

4. Friday, March 13: That Time Booster Gold Defeated a Disease
In which we took at look at the events of Booster Gold Volume 1 #17 in light of the pandemic that was sweeping the globe. Conclusion: an impenetrable force field is better than a vaccine.

3. Monday, October 26: The Strong and Silent Type
In which I improved Superman & Batman Magazine #8 by cutting out most panels that don't include Booster Gold. Sorry, I couldn't do anything about that bulky 1990s power suit.

2. Monday, November 9: Two of a Kind: Shattered and Forged
In which we clear up the confusion surrounding DC's announcements of Generations: Shattered and Generations: Future State comic books. Hint: they're the same book. Or, at least we think they are. We'll be more certain when we finally have the book in our hands next week.

1. Friday, December 18: The Best of Booster Gold: Action Comics 995
In which we conclude our year-long series of the 12 best Booster Gold comics. (Maybe those clickbait comic book listicle sites are onto something.)

Let's make 2021 another Boosterrific year!

Avengers Disassembled

It seems like a while since Ross Pearsall showcased Booster Gold in his Super-Team Family Presents... blog, but it was worth the wait.

Super-Team Family Presents #3114

Maybe that's not the Avenger's greatest line-up, but holding off even Captain America alone is a noteworthy accomplishment.

Keep up the good work, Ross.

Entertainment for the Eyes and the Ears

Propjosh dropped me a line to let me know he is preparing to unleash the final season of his long-running Blue and Gold fan series. Here's what he had to say about what you'll see when you visit his YouTube channel:

Without giving away too much, this season will be very closely related to the Booster Gold comics. Five years passed since Ted Kord was killed and Booster is trying to cope while working alongside Rip Hunter. There will definitely be some episodes straight from the comics. There will also be an episode where they will be completely animated with possibly a guest star.

Here's a link to my trailer for the season.

I will have new episodes every Saturday starting Sept 5th until the end of the year.

September 5? That's tomorrow! Finally something to watch other than the constant stream of political advertisements on my television. Thanks, Josh!

And if you're looking for something else to entertain you this long Labor Day weekend, know that Blue and Gold -- A Superman and Booster Gold Podcast released a new episode earlier this week. You can find it via blueandgoldpodcast.blogspot.com.

Youtube videos and podcasts? Sometimes the Internet is pretty great.
