PC Load Letter?

This is not new. It was created waaay back in 2013, and I found it while looking for art to use for my Blue and Gold #ConnectedTogether Social Distance PSA. I haven't run it before, and I like it. I think maybe you'll like it, too.

Blue Beetle and Booster Gold by RB Silva and Mat Lopez

The lines are by RB Silva and the color is by Mat Lopez, who posted it to his account on

I like to imagine that Booster is telling Beetle a joke to cheer him up, but it's equally likely the boys are celebrating the destruction of that annoying office printer that always jams. (You know the one!) With these two, you can never tell.

Year in Review, Day 1

I'm busy this final week of the year, so I'm setting the site into low content mode and counting down the most-viewed posts of the past year.

The fifth most-viewed post of the year was on January 28, 2013.

Justice League sketch by RB Silva

At the time, we wondered if this sketch posted by RB Silva to Instagram was a precursor to a new Justice League title. It turned out that it was box artwork for the DC Deck-Building Game expansion Heroes Unite, and like Booster Gold himself, it was barely seen in 2013. (Though originally planned for a Christmas 2013 release, it now has an expected release date sometime in the first quarter of 2014.)

Number 4 tomorrow.

Play as Booster Gold in Heroes Unite

In the Boosterrific Forum last week, CDN updated us that there were new developments online about the DC Deck-Building Game expansion Heroes Unite. (The game was previously mentioned on January 28 and June 24.)

© Cryptozoic

Thanks to the website of the game's publisher,, we now know that Booster Gold will be a playable character!

  • Play as Shazam!, Hawkman, Red Tornado, Nightwing, Black Canary, Batgirl, or Booster Gold.
  • Each Super Hero has a unique special ability that will open up different strategies to the player. Follow that strategy or break away with a plan of your own!
  • Card combos, strategy, and fun abound in this game where every card is a well-known, fan-favorite card with amazing art. This is a standalone game, but also an expansion to the hit DC Comics Deck-building Game released in late 2012. Mix the two sets together for the ultimate showdown!
  • Easy to learn, entertaining and engaging gameplay.

CDN points out that while RB Silva's art was used for the box, previously existing art appear to have been used for the cards themselves. "Even the games want Booster back in his preNu costume," he adds. For example, the Kevin Maguire alternate cover to Justice League: Generation Lost can be seen on the "Booster Gold" card. If pre-Flashpoint art was used, does that mean we'll be seeing Skeets? (IhopeIhopeIhope.)

Cryptozoic plans a fourth quarter 2013 release, so the game should be available for Christmas. I know what I want to see under my tree this year!

Start Saving Today

It looks like gamers are soon to be getting a double dose of Booster Gold.

As noted last week by the Irredeemable Shag! at, Booster will be included in the New 52-inspired Justice League Chess Set being produced a piece at a time by Eaglemoss. Booster will be a pawn in the set, but so will be Captain Marvel Shazam, Supergirl, and Power Girl, so at least he has some pretty good company. Eaglemoss has already given us one awesome Booster Gold figure, so there is a firm foundation to expect a great Booster Gold chess piece whenever it is released.

The other place we'll be seeing Booster Gold is as a playing card in the Heroes Unite expansion for the DC Comics Deck-Building Game. has details about the game itself, and speculates that this was the project that the R.B. Silva Instagram pictures were teasing back in January. Whether that is true or not, odds are that this, too, will feature Booster in his New 52 togs.

No dates or pics yet for either product, but hopefully both will be available before the end of the year, so plan ahead and start saving now, Boosterphiles!

(Thanks to Shag and Morgenstern for pointing these out.)

Clap Your Hands If You Believe

The big news this weekend, at least so far as Booster Gold and the Justice League International are concerned, has been the buzz about a sketch appearing on artist R.B. Silva's Instagram page that shows Booster Gold alongside several other high profile characters.

Justice League sketch by RB Silva
This image is cropped. For the full image, visit

From left to right, that's Nightwing, Batgirl, Booster Gold, Hawkman, Captain Marvel Shazam, Black Canary, and Red Tornado. What are these characters doing together? Is this an upcoming comic book team? The picture's comment tag isn't a lot of help in deciphering this mystery.

I can't talk about it :) #hankman #boostergold #shazam #blackcanary #batgirl #redtornado #nightwing

Of course, this tells us nothing about the image that we can't see by looking. Given an absence of information, comic book fans do what they are apt to do: freak out. (And yes, the first hashtag by Silva for that image is "#hankman," and not "#hawkman." Was that a typo? Those two keys are nowhere near each other on my keyboard.)

The images have been discussed in the Forum, repeated at, covered by Russ Burlingame at, and even analyzed here in the Boosterrific Forum. Booster Gold fans sure are excited about seeing Booster, even if it's only as a tiny thumbnail sketch.

The question is whether or not this image from Silva represents news of a return for Booster. The answer is that we don't know yet.

DC hasn't announced anything, and Silva has been known to draw commission that have nothing to do with official DC publications. Could it be a pitch by Silva? A first draft of an upcoming book?

There's no evidence yet to suggest anything, so make of it what you will. My advice is that you not get your hopes up until you see it in writing, but I share your enthusiasm that maybe the Booster drought may be coming to an end.
