Booster Gold Sells Out! Again!
Remember 3 weeks ago, when I wrote that mistake-filled blog post about the issue of Booster Gold that tied-into Flashpoint? Well, welcome back. DC appears to have really hit a home run with the Flashpoint event.
DC announced via The Source on Friday that Booster Gold #45 has sold out and would be going back to press in coming weeks. Flashpoint #2 was released a week earlier and also sold out of its initial printing. Does all of this sound familiar? It should, as the exact same scenario happened last month with Booster Gold #44 and Flashpoint #2.
I think I've made my disdain for alternate history stories perfectly clear, but I am going to have to accept that I am in the minority on this. Flashpoint and its tie-ins are doing exceptionally well. No doubt they will make a great springboard for DC's second Explosion or first Heroes Reborn or whatever shenanigans DC is planning to roll out at the Flashpoint conclusion.

Booster Gold Versus Ambush Bug
A few days ago, Booster booster Harry reported in the Boosterrific Forum that final sales estimates were in for the entire Booster Gold run of Giffen and DeMatteis. All things being equal, the news isn't that bad.
The sales fall seems to hit rock bottom with issue 41 and bounce back a little following the introduction of the Perforated Man. It's probably anyone's guess whether this is because the title finally found its sales floor, fans were excited about the storyline, or speculators were gathering for the pending Jurgens return/Flashpoint tie-in. If this is any indication, Booster Gold may still have a bit of life left. (Hopefully, this isn't simply a dead cat bounce.)

Booster Gold Sells Out!
Remember 185 18 months ago, when it became very hard to find the issues of Booster Gold that tied-into Blackest Night? Well, welcome to Flashpoint. Love 'em or hate 'em, nothing sells books like a company-wide crossover.
DC announced via The Source on Friday that Booster Gold #44 has sold out and would be going back to press in coming weeks. Flashpoint #1 was released a week earlier and also sold out of its initial printing. The second printing of Flashpoint #1 is expected to be available on June 15. It is a safe bet that Booster Gold #44, 2nd printing, should be available no later than the following week.
Can't wait that long? May I suggest downloading the book from comixology.com? I'm pretty sure that they haven't yet sold out of pixels. [EDIT: Russ Burlingame points out in the comments below that my math sucks.]

Operators Are Standing By
Do you have holes in your Booster Gold collection? Do you like to read comics but you hate all that cumbersome paper? Then have I got a deal for you!

From yesterday through Sunday morning, DC is offering a huge selection of digital comics from 2005-2007 for sale at a mere 99¢ each at Comixology. Since these comics are the nearly complete Infinite Crisis and 52 storylines, they also happen to contain the resurgence of Booster Gold! The available comic books featuring appearances by Booster Gold are
- Countdown to Infinite Crisis #1 (Booster Gold gets a contract to sell sunglasses!)
- The OMAC Project #1-6 (Booster Gold attacks Batman!)
- Infinite Crisis #2, 4-7 (Booster Gold gets a new costume!)
- The OMAC Project Special #1 (Booster Gold flies away!)
- 52 #1-8, 10, 15, 20, 22, 24-25, 31, 33-37, 50-52 (Booster Gold dies and saves the universe!)
- World War III #2 (Booster Gold visits the Leaning Tower of Pisa!)
Sure, you could buy the issues that don't include Booster Gold, but why would you want to? (I mean, unless you also want the issues where Max Lord is killed. Or maybe you like to read complete stories. Whatever.)
You can find the whole list of comics for sale on DC's Source Blog here, and the Comixology DC Store here.)

Booster Gold Versus Team Titans
Just for kicks, I thought that I'd compare the sales for Booster Gold's three 2010 series: Booster Gold, Justice League: Generation Lost, and Time Masters: Vanishing Point. While I knew what the the sales numbers were, it's kind of surprising to see them stacked against each other.
Booster Gold was the only ongoing series of the three and was also consistently the worst seller of the bunch. Time Masters did only marginally better, despite featuring Batman, Superman, and Green Lantern, three of DC's biggest sellers on a monthly basis. The best seller was a book comprised primarily of characters who have repeatedly proven themselves incapable of sustaining enough fan interest to maintain individual series.
I know that there were more factors at play than just characters (cost, tie-in, promotion, creative teams, etc.), but it would seem that the ensemble cast approach really works.
