Cover Description: Batman is reflected in the eye of Brother Eye. (No Booster Gold.)

Brief Synopsis: An investigation is launched into the disappearance of the Blue Beetle.

Issue Notes: This miniseries is one of four that lead into the Infinite Crisis mini-series. Unaware of the larger schemes threatening the DC Universe, Booster initiates an investigation into the disappearance of his best friend, Blue Beetle II.

Page 14, panel 3
Booster Gold is tracked by the Brother One satellite to Chicago's Mercy Hospital, where he has apparently recently been released. In Booster's last appearance, Countdown to Infinite Crisis #1, a computer screen indicated that Booster was in the fictional Faromir Hospital for extensive third-degree burns on his chest. Mercy Hospital was Chicago's first chartered hospital, and has been in operation since 1852.

A fan recognizes Booster without his costume, but becomes belligerent when Booster declines to discuss his sex life with the complete stranger. This encounter is indicative of Booster's history with the general public. As a side effect of making himself such an accessible public figure, Booster has to endure a larger dose of the fickle public's opinions than a majority of his fellow Justice Leaguers.

Wonder Woman arrives to inform Booster that Blue Beetle II has been missing for several days. Booster establishes that two days have passed since his final meeting with Beetle, as shown in Countdown to Infinite Crisis #1. Wonder Woman confirms that it has been three days since Beetle came to her for help in his investigation, also shown in Countdown to Infinite Crisis #1. The two Leaguers agree to begin a search for their missing friend.

ISSUE REVIEW

Boosterrific Review: Greg Rucka is completely in his element here as he crafts a taut thriller that picks up immediately where Countdown to Infinite Crisis left off. A fantastic issue that succeeds on enhancing and justifying the growing environment of paranoia in the DC Universe.
