New Old Releases: Planetary Omnibus
Today, DC Comics is releasing a comic that has nothing to do with Booster Gold. That's nothing new. However, today DC is giving you something else that is almost as awesome.
If you haven't ever read Planetary, now's your chance. The Planetary Omnibus hits stores today, and collects the entire series and its 3 crossover issues with Batman, the JLA, and the Authority. The book has a cover price of $75.00. That might sound expensive, but its totally worth it.
If you can't tell, I'm a big fan of the series. I've spent so much time complaining around here lately, it's nice to have a chance to promote something that I like. I think you'll like it, too.

New Release: Smallville: Alien #1
It's been awhile since we've seen Booster Gold in a DC comic. Maybe he's been busy recording his life story to audio book.

That's our hero, "the most awesome hero there is," making a cameo in today's Smallville: Alien #1. That truck driver is in Russia, meaning that even in comics, Booster has a worldwide audience!
Thanks to Herbert Fung, who spotted this panel when it was released online in back in November.

New Old Release: JLA Earth 2
Today at your Local Comic Shop, you might find a new printing of JLA: Earth 2. This 2002 story was Grant Morrison's introduction of the Crime Syndicate of Amerika to the post-Crisis on Infinite Earths DC Universe. Be forewarned that it has nothing to do with current continuity.
Obviously, DC is hoping to squeeze a few extra bucks out of fans excited about the current Forever Evil mini-series that introduces the Crime Syndicate to the post-Flashpoint DC Universe. I'm not opposed to DC Comics re-releasing old stories to new readers, but I have to suspect that the timing of this particular reprinting is going to cause some problems.
For one thing, Earth-2 is no longer home to the Crime Syndicate in the "New 52" Universe. That's now Earth-3. Earth 2 is now another title altogether, more or less the book that used to be called JSA. How many fans are going to see JLA: Earth 2 and think it's either related to the comic Earth 2 (which it isn't) or feature the same characters that are now found in Forever Evil (which it doesn't)?
Don't get me wrong: I like and recommend JLA: Earth 2. I just hope that everyone has a good Local Comic Shop operator who can clear up the confusion about when and where the events of this book take place before someone decides to pay $24.99 for this "deluxe" reprint.
(And for the record, no, Booster Gold does not appear in this book. Sadly, we still haven't seen Frank Quitely's interpretation of our favorite hero. The world can be a cruel, cruel place.)

New Release: Forever Evil
At ComicCon in July, Geoff Johns promised Booster Gold fans that Forever Evil would link to our hero in some way. Unfortunately, there is no sign or direct reference to Booster anywhere in the book.
I don't understand what Johns could have been referring to... unless it was this:

That's Lex Luthor having a politely threatening converation with one Thomas Kord. (Boy, that name seems familiar. Where have I heard that before?) Lex is threatening Thomas's family, including his son at Northwestern University. (Gee, I wonder who that could be?)
If you want more details, you'll have to pick up Forever Evil #1, now at your local comic shop!

New Release: Trinity of Sin: Pandora #2
Here we go again. Trinity of Sin: Pandora #2 is released today. Will Booster Gold make an appearance? I have no idea.
Last month I told you to expect a glimpse of Booster Gold flashback in Trinity of Sin: Pandora #1. That information was based on a teaser released at dccomics.com. I was misled, and Booster was nowhere to be seen in that issue.
Will the teased pages with Booster be printed in today's book instead? I don't know. It's not in the issue preview at mtv.com. We now know that Booster won't be involved in Trinity War, and I begin to suspect that he won't be in Trinity of Sin: Pandora, either.
If anyone notices Booster in the issue, please let me know. Until I hear from you, I'm going to assume otherwise.
