Quiet: Artist at Work
Two weeks later, and I'm still discovering neat tidbits from New York Comic Con 2012. Today, we'll watch as Franco Aureliani of AW Yeah Comics creates Booster Gold from scratch for some lucky fan (who happens to be Russ Burlingame, Senior Staff Writer at ComicBook.com).
Thanks to Russ Burlingame for posting this on the web for us to see, and thanks to Franco for taking Russ' commission.

Speaking of Howard Chaykin
So no sooner do I imply that I'd like to see Howard Chaykin darw Booster Gold than does TheBlotSays come to the rescue. And Chaykin is just one of six fabulous artists he's lined-up in his Booster Gold sketchbook. Check it out:
You can see the whole sketchbook in much larger detail (including Art Adam's accompanying drawing of Skeets!) at The Blot Says' Flickr page. And while you're out there, consider popping on over to The Blot's blog, TheBlotSays.com, where you'll find some other pretty awesome articles about art and comics and toys and things. Thanks for sharing, Blot!
[UPDATE 08/20/2012: Speaking of sharing, if you see this message, Jesster, can you please get in touch with me at Webmaster at Boosterrific dot com? There's a fellow looking for some reference art, and I was hoping you might be able to lend a hand.]

The Shirt Off Their Backs
What do super heroes do in their down time? Same as you and me, I expect. They kick back and play some games with their friends.

Of course the ladies are winning: Zatanna never plays fair!
The above image of Poker Night in Gotham (between Zatanna, Black Canary, and Lady Blackhawk versus Hal Jordan, Nightwing, and Booster Gold) was commissioned from Caanan Grall for The Happy Sorceress. You can find more of Grall's work (and commission some of your own) on Occasional Comics Disorder or at his pages on Deviant Art. (Check out Grall's Deviant Art gallery for a clever Weekend at Bernie's visual gag featuring everyone's favorite dead Blue Beetle.)

All I Want for Christmas
Someone needs to tell DC Direct to get on the phone and hire sculptor Tony McDevitt to create us a licensed Blue and Gold statue.
The above 1/6.5 scale (about 12-inches tall) sculpture based on the cover to Booster Gold, Vol. 2, #7 was custom made for Jesse321 who proudly shows it off at statueforum.com. In the tread, Jesse321 hints that a Skeets will be added to the finished work, making it absolutely perfect.
More samples of McDevitt's amazing but sadly non-Booster Gold related work can be found at statueforum.com (where he posts as Troyboy) and on his own website, The McDevitt Studio.

Booster Gold on Commission
After Wednesday's post, Herb Fung has emailed to let us know that he's uploaded some Booster Gold commissions from the 2010 Calgary Comic & Entertainment Expo at comicartfans.com. You can find Booster Gold drawn by Art Baltazar (Tiny Titans) here and a drawing by Marcus To (Red Robin) here. Thanks, Herb!
P.S. I'm working on a site addition detailing the behind-the-scenes creation of Booster Gold as revealed by none other than Dan Jurgens himself. I hope to have that completed by next week, so watch this space for upcoming details.
