Sticking Together

The now familiar Chris Batista art of Blue Beetle and Booster Gold running away from an angry mob (as seen in Booster Gold #34) will soon be available as a pair of vinyl decals from Elephant Gun.

Just like the Dynomighty wallet that used the same art, the stickers are a Previews Exclusive available only to comic shops. They'll be available this October with a $6.00 suggested retail price. Remember, if you want it, you'll need to remind your Local Comic Shop to order it!

Booster Gold Commission by Paris Cullins

Paris Cullins is a fantastic artist who penciled most of the first two years of Blue Beetle's eponymous 1980s adventures. That was prior to the Justice League International, but now we can see what a Cullins' penciled Blue and Gold (and Skeets!) might have looked like thanks to this 2015 sketch commission.

Booster looks to be giving Ted a hand against his rogues gallery. If you like what you see, you can own it! It's currently listed on eBay.com for USD $75.

Blue and Gold Cover Draw! Magazine

Booster Gold might not have appeared in DC Comics lately, but TwoMorrows publishing is picking up the slack. They're keeping the humor alive by putting everyone's favorite dysfunctional duo on the cover of the latest Draw! magazine:

Draw! #32 from Two Morrows

As you can tell from the cover blurb, yes, that's art by the inimitable Howard Porter. Porter created this piece exclusively for TwoMorrows by incorporating an unused Justice League 3001 cover idea. There's much more of his talent inside, though Blue and Gold are limited to the cover and a small preliminary sketch for this cover.

If you can't find the issue in your Local Comic Shop, you can order it online at TwoMorrows.com.

DC Icons Blue Beetle and Booster Gold Coming

There was a rumor that we'd see some new DC Comics action figures at San Diego Comic-Con International this week. Those rumors were true! Feast your eyes on these beautiful things:

© DC Comics

According to Jenna Busch at ComingSoon.com, this 2-pack of upcoming figures in the DC Icons line was unveiled at the DC Collectibles panel. The figures will come "with word balloons and alternate laughing heads." That sounds like a set of figures I'll have to own!

What other Booster Gold news might we hear before the weekend is over, I wonder?

(Special thanks to The Blot for alerting us that this reveal was coming.)

DeMatteis in the 80s

Mark Belkin recently interviewed J.M. DeMatteis for the "DC in the 80s" webzine. When the conversation turned to the JLI, the topic of writing for Booster Gold came up.

Mark Belkin: How was it writing Blue Beetle and Booster Gold?

J.M. DeMatteis: The great thing with those characters — and all characters, really — is when you're in 'the zone', you're not writing them, they're writing you. People say "What made you put Booster and Blue Beetle together?" We didn't! They did it! Blue and Gold were in some scenes together and something sparked. We followed them where they led us and this wonderful relationship developed that exists to this day.

Mark: Are you excited by the Booster Gold and Blue Beetle movie?

JM: Don't know if Blue Beetle will appear in the movie, but I hope he does. It's being written by someone who has become a Twitter friend, Zack Stentz — who's written for the recent Thor and X-Men movies, as well as The Flash TV show. So Booster's in excellent hands.

The whole interview with DeMatteis, covering topics as varied as the writer's spirituality and comedic influences, can be found at dcinthe80s.blogspot.ca.
