(Don't get me wrong. I'm sure that there are females of the species out there that adore Booster Gold; I've communicated with several on the Internet. I'm just saying none of them ever admitted it to my face.)

I'm actually the guy in the video wearing the booster shirt. I'm friends with pat and work at the comic shop where it was filmed so he had me in it. :)

Is it really that uncommon for girls to like Booster? He's my absolute favorite superhero and every time I go into my local comic book store, I always try to collect issues from his solo runs and other series that he's in (JLI/JLA and Generation Lost are personal favorites). In fact, one time, the owner actually asked me how I knew of Booster and I explained to him that I pretty much fell in love with his character during my first time reading through JLI. ;) Booster's just that charming.

I think it's relatively rare to meet a Booster Gold fan, period. And given that in my experience Booster Gold fans have been mostly male, yes, I think female Booster Gold fans are uncommon.

Everyone who meets Booster should love him, so it shouldn't be uncommon for women to like Booster. I suspect it's just a case of fewer women being exposed to Booster.

I can't claim that my experience is universal. I admit that I have spent far less time in comic book shops since Booster exploded to new heights of popularity following 52. It's possible that there exists a huge audience for Booster among women these days. However, judging by the people I have communicated with via email and this website, it seems to me that women are still the minority of Booster fans.

I never heard of BG until 2 years ago, when I first picked up a comic book. My whole Hero world was made up of memories of saturday morning cartoons and movies. The DC cartoon along with Video games will help Booster's popularity in the future. Also, Booster came out in the mid 80's while other's have been around for decades longer.

Personally, I agree children's cartoons are the ideal medium to spread the glory of Booster Gold. A live-action prime-time show is the second best option. Those will live on in syndication forever, and no printed medium gets the kind of attention that television does.

I really don't think that the era of Booster's origin (in the 1980s) is that big a handicap, except for the fact that it represents a gap in DC's television output. Booster is too new for SUPER FRIENDS and too old for YOUNG JUSTICE. Take a look at Martian Manhunter: he's never had much television presence and is virtually unknown to non-comic book fans, but he's been a lynchpin in the Justice League (and therefore the center of the DCU) since the team formed in 1960.

I guess what you're responding to is that you feel that Booster's relative lack of popularity is based on lack of awareness by the public, not any failing of the character.

Hopefully the mystery hinted at in the JLI Annual will play a pivotal roll in an upcoming Nu52 wide event. With Booster as a key player in such an event, he can't help but be propelled back into the prominent role he deserves. After all, time IS on his side...

DC teased its last big event (remember something called FLASHPOINT?) 18 months in advance. If Booster is held out for a big event, does that mean we wouldn't get him back until February 2014?

I doubt we'll have to wait for another FLASHPOINT sized event, just a threat worthy of a little time-meddling, possibly involving the Reach. If that's the case, since BLUE BEETLE has been cancelled, then the new THRESHOLD series might be the place to watch. Just a thought, based on a lot of IFs.

Did see a new release of DC childrens book at the LCS today. Man of steel and Man of Gold. Booster more prominant than Supes.

DC sure has gotten your hopes up about DC UNIVERSE PRESENTS 19, haven't they, Booster Nation. We have discussed this in the Boosterrific Forum (http://www.boosterrific.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=246 and decided that it is not Booster. But clearly, I need to make this a blog post so that those of you who don't visit the forum can see our debate. More on this tomorrow.
