Bwa-Ha-Ha Again

This image isn't new (creator Kris Smith posted it on DeviantArt back in 2009), but that doesn't make it any less Boosterrific.

Who wouldn't want to watch a cartoon show about this odd couple?

Take Care of the Hands That Take Care of You

This weekend there was a discussion on the Boosterrific Forum about what costume Booster Gold might be wearing when he drops in on All-Star Western later this month. Clearly, a few fans are still displeased over Booster's New 52 costume. (I am one of them.)

Booster Gold's gloves

The illustration above shows the progression of Booster's gloves from his debut to now. In his debut series, Booster had gold gloves with blue bracelets. In his second series, Booster had blue gloves with gold bracelets. Now Booster has gold gloves with gold bracelets.

Assuming that it is Booster Gold's golden hand we see on the solicited half-cover for All-Star Western #19, it looks like Booster will still be wearing his New 52 apparel. That is, unless he has put his old costume back on for a trip to the Old West.

We'll find out for sure when All-Star Western #19 hits stands April 24.

Collecting One Page at a Time

According to ComicsPriceGuide.com, Booster Gold, Vol. 1, #9 is worth about $3.00 in near-mint condition. According to Etsy.com, the same issue is worth more than $4.40 if you cut all the pages out.

Jenns Minis sells Booster Gold on Etsy.com

JennsMinis is selling 12 pages from the issue in two separate listings (here and here). The issue originally contained 16 pages of story and ads. Even if you buy both listings, you'll still have to buy an intact issue and tear it apart yourself to complete your collection of loose pages.

Blue and Gold: The Stalking Dead

I'm going to come right out and say it: I don't like George Romero-style zombies. I think they are the least plausible of all monster tropes, dumber even than sparkly vampires that spend their immortal lives doing biology homework. Therefore, I've never read an issue nor watched an episode of The Walking Dead.

That said, I'd like to bring you attention to the fact that YouTube auteur Propjosh, creator of three seasons of "Blue & Gold" comedy shorts, has opened his fourth season with an homage to The Walking Dead.

Because I've never seen a single anything about The Walking Dead, I can't tell you how it stands up to the original, or how it references its source material in any way. I can tell you, however, that there are some pretty funny moments, especially the surprise ending of who is filming whom.

I'm not going to embed the 6 minute video here — I'd rate it PG-13 for adult content — but you can easily get there yourself by following this link to YouTube.com.

Whether zombie films are my bag or not, I have to tip my hat to Propjosh for creating fan-films incorporating Booster Gold. Keep up the good work, Josh!

Coming Soon to a Computer Near You

I'm not surprised over how many votes baseball and ice hockey got in this poll. After all, they are the Great American and Great Canadian sports. What does surprise me is how few votes basketball got, what with March Madness currently underway!

Last week's poll question: If Booster Gold's origin was revised to eliminate American football, which sport would you use instead? (48 votes)

If Booster Gold's origin was revised to eliminate American football, which sport would you use instead?

Next Friday, April 12, the first part of Smallville: Season 11 #13 will be released digitally online. The story "Argo" re-teams the Superman and Booster Gold incarnations of television's Smallville continuity, and it's three parts will be collected into a single "floppy" issue next month. Are you planning to buy this issue one part at a time digitally, or are you willing to wait until it's in print to get your hands on it?
