Counting the Weeks
Today marks 11 weeks since Booster Gold was last seen in Smallville Season 11 #15. It's been 13 weeks since Booster Gold was last seen in DCnU continuity in All-Star Western #21.
Thirteen weeks is longer than most drug rehabilitation programs. Is DC trying to "cure" fans of Booster Gold? Personally, I'm pretty sure I'm still in withdrawal.

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Tonight
If you are the sort who pays attention to such things, you already know that Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. debuts tonight on ABC. So far as the glut of advertising would have you believe, it is only the latest, greatest thing to happen to television, like, ever.
What does this have to do with Booster Gold? Simple: it's a television show and Booster Gold is not.
Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. entered development in July 2012 when Disney decided to take their successful Marvel movie franchises to the small screen. ABC ordered a pilot of the show in August 2012. The show was officially selected for broadcast in May 2013 and will be on your TV tonight.
Compare that to Booster Gold, announced in November 2011 following Booster's triumphant television debut in Smallville earlier that year. A script was delivered sometime around December 2012. Two years have passed, and in that time there has been no pilot, no noticeable progress, no news at all. Hollywood studios don't cancel developments; they just ignore something until it goes away.
S.H.I.E.L.D. is not an A-list property, yet it gets a high profile television show while Booster Gold doesn't. This isn't a knock against Booster, and it isn't necessarily a knock against DC. Disney owns Marvel and ABC, so it only makes sense that they spend the money to develop their own properties for their own distribution channels. In the meantime, Arrow has been a success for DC owner TimeWarner, but on a scale much more subdued than what Disney is attempting.
Recent years have been full of failed DC Comics television productions, including such high-profile characters Aquaman and Wonder Woman. Does TimeWarner not care about turning the DC stable of characters into live-action television shows? Who knows. The only thing we know for sure is that they certainly don't care about producing Booster Gold.

Around the World in 1082 Days
In the early 16th century, Spain was desperate to find a way to reach India without using the trade routes dominated by the Portuguese. To the rescue came Ferdinand Magellan, who was determined to expand on the work of Christopher Columbus and find a western route to the Spice Islands of Indonesia. Magellan set sail on September 20, 1519, and almost succeeded, dying in battle in the Philippines just a few thousand miles from his goal.
No doubt Magellan and his crew must have encountered many incredible peoples during his voyages, but none were so celebrated as the mysterious giant of Patagonia discovered while exploring what would become known as the Strait of Magellan. Magellan's chronicler described the giant as a tall, well-formed man with a broad face whose "eyes were surrounded with yellow." Who could possibly fit that description?
Could it be possible that a race of unusually large and strong men still lurk on the southern tip of South America? Or could it be that the reported giant wasn't a native, but a tourist from the future named Booster Gold? It isn't every day that someone circumnavigates the world for the first time, you know.

Imagining the End of the World
Booster Gold meets Zatanna: how many pages until Zatanna turns Booster into a frog?
Last week's poll question: Which Justice Leaguer should Booster Gold team up with for the first time? (48 votes)
Today's poll is inspired by DC's recent decision to prevent Batwoman from marrying and the outcry that triggered from fans. (The book's creative staff quit in protest. Would we even know about DC editorial's decision if the creative staff hadn't quit? Should fans now expect this sort of behind-the-scenes dysfunction when they consider reading DC Comics? What should Booster Gold fans be prepared to accept if we ever actually see the much-promised Booster Gold volume 3?)
