A Different Kind of Rainbow Raider
Brian McLachlan and Aaron Hanson have broken down the combinations of primary color pairings to discuss the color theory of how they affect our perception of heroes. Booster Gold, in his "confident" blue and "energetic" yellow, is included among the examples.
You can find the whole article at ComicAlliance.com. I thought it was worth the read. (If you do review it, keep in mind that Dan Jurgens decided on Booster's color scheme before finalizing any other costume details.)

Justice League 3000 Blue and Gold Concepts
Last week on Twitter, Bats-Marvelous drew our attention to this unused concept sketch from Howard Porter for the Booster Gold and Blue Beetle in Justice League 3000:
Booster may be missing his trademark star, but otherwise, it looks pretty good to me. I especially like the hood, which simultaneously plays with Booster's public profile (what celebrity doesn't try to hide from the press in a hoodie?) and simulates the high collar. Clever, @MrHowardPorter. Clever.

Booster Gold's Conspicuous Absence
Today is a red letter day in the history of Booster Gold publications!
- 336 days between Superman #124 and Chase #4 (Apr. 1997 to Mar. 1998)
- 303 days between Bat-Mite #4 and now (November 2015 to present)
- 302 days between Martian Manhunter #24 and JLA: Our Worlds At War (Sept. 2000 to July 2001)
DC has just started another reboot Rebirth where it is implied that a character existing outside of DC history has changed history for his own ends. It seems almost every character in the current DCnU has made an appearance, but so far, there's no sign of Booster Gold or Waverider or any of DC's other Time Masters. Isn't this scenario exactly what they are supposed to be preventing?
Geoff Johns is the Chief Creative Officer of DC Comics who publicly professes an affinity for Booster Gold. Yet, whenever the big events happen under Johns' watch, Booster is nowhere to be seen. Why is that?

Not Another Booster Gold Appearance
Booster booster Logan wrote me last week to ask if I'd seen the latest (and final) issue of Justice League 3001. He wanted to know if I'd seen this:
That sure looks like Booster Gold's body in the rubble beside Ice. However, it doesn't make any sense for Booster to be there.
Booster and his pal, Blue Beetle, disappeared from the series after the evil Lady Styx took over the universe in issue #7. The climactic battle, which Booster didn't participate in, took place on Paradise Island, a secret location Booster couldn't have reached. So how could that be him on the ground?
My theory is that's not Booster, but the body of the evil clone of Wildfire of the Legion of Super-Heroes. Wildfire also has a star on his chest, and appears throughout the issue. (You can see him at the bottom center of the cover above.) I suspect that the issue inker or colorist saw Wildfire's body on the ground surrounded by the reincarnated JLI and mistakenly detailed it as Booster Gold.
I reached out on Twitter to issue writer J.M. DeMatteis to ask if he'd intended to show a dead Booster Gold. This was his response:
So there we have it. It may look like Booster Gold's costume, but it's not Booster Gold.
Whew.

Super Powers Collection of the Future
For the better part of the past decade, someone identified as "Industrial Toy Werks" has been selling a series of custom action figures as though they were foreign bootlegs of the popular but long-discontinued Kenner Super Power Collection. Included in this line of figures was a Booster Gold, and one of those showed up on eBay.com this past week.

ITW has become known as a pretty high quality bootleg, especially considering the detailing put into the custom blister card packaging. The Booster Gold card is no exception, reusing art from the DC Heroes role-playing game to make a card that you'd expect to find on a legitimate Super Powers Collection product.
If you Google this figure (or look at the back of the card), you'll see other ITW Booster Gold figures painted with gold paint. That color scheme was probably influenced by the Justice League Unlimited figure released in 2004. This custom is a more comic-accurate yellow, like the second Booster Gold JLU figure released in 2009. How many of these did ITW make?
Eagle-eyed critics might also notice that the figure's gloves are blue and his bracelets are gold. Booster's classic, high-collar costume had gold gloves and blue bracelets. The colors were inverted in Booster's 2007 collarless redesign. Even I'll admit that complaining about that sort of detail about a custom figure is simply nitpicking.
The auction is closed now, but the seller was asking $269.99 (+ $9.95 shipping)! That's about the going rate for original Super Powers figures still on their original card. That's a lot of money. If Booster Gold were here, no doubt he'd want his cut.
