The Final Political Question

I don't think I've ever run a poll that was so evenly divided at the top. Booster Gold: is there anything he's not qualified to do?

Last week's poll question: Which U.S. Cabinet position would Booster Gold be most likely to find himself in? (37 votes)

Which U.S. Cabinet position would Booster Gold be most likely to find himself in?

For a few weeks I've been asking specifically about Booster Gold's role in politics, but I'd like to look at the bigger picture this week. What role should the President play in the world of DC Comics, where super heroes run rampant often outside the purview of government?

More than a decade ago, Lex Luthor won the Presidency, and his villainous nature led to some very interesting stories. On the flip side, Superman is often teased as a presidential figure, a moral model for the nation. Now that DC has adopted more of the Marvel Comics model, where heroes aren't always right or held in reverence by the population at large, I wonder which of these roles better fits in the world now inhabited by Booster Gold.

Quiet: Artist at Work

Two weeks later, and I'm still discovering neat tidbits from New York Comic Con 2012. Today, we'll watch as Franco Aureliani of AW Yeah Comics creates Booster Gold from scratch for some lucky fan (who happens to be Russ Burlingame, Senior Staff Writer at ComicBook.com).

Thanks to Russ Burlingame for posting this on the web for us to see, and thanks to Franco for taking Russ' commission.

Shameless Self-Promotion

In the true spirit of Booster Gold, I interrupt today's blog-cast to bring to your attention the Kickstarter campaign for Cellbloc Studios' video game Dungeon Wars.

Who is Cellbloc Studios, you ask? In it we are primarily several of the people I work with in my day job and me. We've decided to make a video game, and we're trying to scrounge up the capital to get the ball rolling.

If you've enjoyed the content at Boosterrific.com, please consider donating at least $1 to our Kickstarter campaign as a way of showing your thanks. I'd really appreciate it.

You may note that I've already changed the "real" ads here on the site to those promoting the Kickstarter campaign. They'll be sticking around for the duration. I'm sure I'll be mentioning this again before we reach the finish line on November 28. Sure, that seems like a lot of advertising, but don't you agree that's the way Booster would want it?

[UPDATE 10/25/12: Never mind. See Friday's post for details.]

Dressing Up for New York Comic Con 2012

I know you were waiting for cosplay pics from last week's New York Comic Con 2012. So here they are.

This picture was found at Kotaku.com. A man, his machine... It looks like there's love in the air. (Yes, we did meet this fellow earlier this year.)

The second picture of Bare Midriff Booster, Mister Miracle, Dr. Fate, and Bare Midriff Beetle comes by way of Uproxx.com (which credits its pic to by Steven Leung at Flickr.com). As much as I love seeing Mister Miracle, something about that mask is really giving me the creeps. But I love Booster's purse!
