Coal in My Stocking?

Wow. It's a Christmas Miracle: this poll had 4 times as many votes as any other poll has ever received. (That's a response too good to be true. It looks like I'll be spending Christmas weekend working on better poll scripts!) Given the apparent demand, maybe original Dan Jurgens artwork needs to be sold by the panel.

Last week's poll question: Which present would you most prefer receive for Christmas? (168 votes)

Which present would you most prefer receive for Christmas?

Coming to the end of the calendar means that it's time to look back at the year that was. For Booster Gold, 2011 was a pretty eventful year. Booster was prominently featured as a major character in 4 different titles, participated in a unique tie-in to the crossover event of the year, and survived the reboot to lead the reimagined Justice League International. He even appeared in both animated and live action television shows. Quite an impressive list for a character still widely considered a b-list hero. Here's hoping Booster doesn't rest on his laurels in 2012.

Merry McKelvie Christmas

While we're under "Mc" in the Boosterrific file cabinet, let's celebrate the season with some style.

Batman and Booster Gold celebrate Christmas by Jamie McKelvie

James McKelvie, a professional comic artist, posted his black and white image of Bronze Age Batman and Classic Booster celebrating Christmas with a high-five -- art intended for Booster fan Eddie Argos -- on his tumblr site last January. I added the color for 2011, but I assure you, it doesn't improve on the original.

You can see more of McKelvie's work on his at mckelvie.tumblr.com.

All I Want for Christmas

Someone needs to tell DC Direct to get on the phone and hire sculptor Tony McDevitt to create us a licensed Blue and Gold statue.

Tony McDevitt custom sculpture of Blue Beetle and Booster Gold

The above 1/6.5 scale (about 12-inches tall) sculpture based on the cover to Booster Gold, Vol. 2, #7 was custom made for Jesse321 who proudly shows it off at statueforum.com. In the tread, Jesse321 hints that a Skeets will be added to the finished work, making it absolutely perfect.

More samples of McDevitt's amazing but sadly non-Booster Gold related work can be found at statueforum.com (where he posts as Troyboy) and on his own website, The McDevitt Studio.

The Art of Noise

If you like your music to sound like road construction, this is the band for you:

© Pat Prendergast

This image was Pat Prendergast's submission to Comic Book Resources' blog Comics Should Be Good. From left to right, that's Scott Pilgrim's Todd Ingram (Oni Press) on bass, X-Men's Syren (Marvel Comics) on lead vocals, "New Look" Booster Gold, and Scud the Disposable Assassin (Fireman Press) on drums. It's an eclectic band, no doubt, and if you go to their concert, be sure take your ear plugs.

Nothing Says Etsy Like a Pillow Sidekick

Maybe it's not a real robot, but you can get your hands on a roughly life-sized Skeets at Etsy.com.

kidcrimsonflash at etsy.com

This Justice League Unlimited-inspired Skeets doll is available from the Etsy.com store of Kid Crimson Flash, who also offers Booster Gold-themed shoes. It sure seems like Etsy.com is becoming the web's go-to place for Booster Gold stuff.
