Pointalists Can Be Heroes, Too
Since I started the week with something borrowed from FirestormFan.com, I feel it is appropriate to end that way, too.
There's a lot to see in the piece, but the best part is no doubt Booster Gold and Godiva canoodling underneath the trees. Ah, l'amour.
The above digital print on canvas by Rey Taira, Saturday Morning in Front of La Salle De Justice, is clearly modeled on the classic 1884 Georges Seaurat painting A Sunday on La Grande Jatte. Taira created this and a companion piece of villains lounging before the Hall of Doom for DC's "We Can Be Heroes" campaign.
This picture was found at kicada.tumblr.com, but another view and links to more pieces in the exhibition can be found at The Idol-Head of Dibolu.

Paraplegics Can Be Heroes, Too
The Irredeemable Shag! of FirestormFan.com brings our attention to the following fan art of the never-before-seen team-up between Jason Rusch and Booster Gold.
This version of Booster appears to have a solid gold torso, and no gauntlets (or legs), but I still like it more than the official DCnU costume. I'm a sucker for the high collar.
This was drawn by Brazilian artist Rodrigo Martins dos Santos. You can find a lot of his comic-inspired pin-up art at DeviantArt.com, where he posts as adagadegelo.

Booster Gold in the Fire and Water Podcast
Rob Kelly of Aquaman Shrine and The Irredeemable Shag of Firestorm Fan turned the latest The Fire and Water Podcast into an hour-long interview with Dan Jurgens, who takes over as writer and artist for Fury of Firestorm starting with issue #13 next week.
Of course, there can be no discussion with Dan Jurgens that doesn't touch on his greatest creation, Booster Gold. For an interview ostensibly about Firestorm, Rob, Shag, and Dan mention Booster Gold surprisingly frequently. (We all know that Firestorm just isn't as interesting as Booster Gold.)
Jurgens discusses how he came to work on Booster Gold in the first place, his interaction with Booster Gold cosplayers, and how he had to adapt Booster Gold for the New 52.
Jurgens: "I don't think that Booster Gold had to change, because he was still fairly true.... Booster was still very consistent, on model with his basic beginnings."
If you're a fan of Firestorm, Dan Jurgens, or comic book artists in general, consider dropping over to fireandwaterpodcast.tumblr.com and give a listen.

Dressing Up for Dragon Con 2012
DragonCon 2012, the "world's largest fantasy/sci-fi convention," was held Labor Day weekend in Atlanta. In celebration of all the hard work that went into having so much fun at DragonCon, my fellow DC fan bloggers and I are sharing some DragonCon 2012 photos of our heroes. Of course, the photos of Booster Gold are the best.
The Booster Gal above is Shelley, and the pic comes to us courtesy The Iredeemable Shag! of FirestromFan.com. Shag normally has some great pictures of DragonCon, and this year was no exception. Better still, this year Shag introduced us to The Superhero Costuming Forum, which leads to some other great cosplay photos.
The fellow above has been cosplaying Booster Gold in his spiffy metallic costume for a few years. I guess by now he's earned enough cred to join the prestigious Legion of Super Heroes. Although, if they are going to swear in Matter Eater Lad, it looks like they'll take anybody.(Photo by KalelKara at The Superhero Costuming Forum.)
I'm not going to lie: some of these cosplayers can make the New 52 costumes look pretty good. The same cannot be said for the poor fellow who came dressed as Booster Gold. Sorry, buster, but there's just no way to make that costume shine. (Photo by KalelKara at The Superhero Costuming Forum.)
UPDATE 09/14/12: Ooops! There was at least one other Booster Gold at Dragon Con that I failed to include. Pyynk brings me to task for leaving him out of the fun. My apologies, sir. Your costume, now pictured above, is far too good to be ignored. (Photo by Bryan Humphrey.)
If you like what you've seen here, check out more cosplaying photos at these other fine sites:

Our thanks to Shag and the great cosplayers at The Superhero Costume Forum for sharing your pics.

Booster Gold versus Boring Scripts
Why was Justice League International volume 3 cancelled? Probably because by issue 12 it was selling about as well as Booster Gold volume 2 was selling at issue 47.
If Booster can do as well alone, why stick him with a bunch of dead weight like Guy Gardner and Batman? (Note that while our old pal Shag at FirestormFan.com will attribute the sales bump beginning at issue 9 to an appearance by Firestorm, but it's really do to a change in DC's return policy.)
