New Release: Justice League 3001 #2

We learned last month on Twitter (from writer J.M. DeMatteis, no less) that Booster Gold won't be showing up in Justice League 3001 until next month's issue #3. But if you want to have any idea what's going on then, you really might want to consider picking up today's issue #2.

You can find a preview online at ComicBookResources.com.

New Release: Justice League United #11

Today you'll find Justice League United #11 in your Local Comic Shop. Why am I mentioning that? Because this:

This is the final panel of the Justice League United #11 preview DC released digitally at the end of Convergence. (You can still find it online at ComicBookResources.com.) If you look closely, you'll see nuBooster Gold just below center.

While Booster Gold certainly doesn't appear in the issue preview found at ComicBook.com, it remains a possibility that he will show up in the series sooner or later. Consider yourself warned.

New Release: Justice League 3001 #1

Justice League 3001 #1 arrives today at your Local Comic Shop. This series continues the story of Justice League 3000, which introduced the comedy stylings of Blue Beetle and Booster Gold to the future.

When last we saw our heroes, they were captured by the series' villains. I trust we'll see more of their story before too long. (They're solicited to appear on the cover of issue #3.)

Our heroes aren't the only JLI throwbacks found in the future. This issue introduces the future Guy Gardner and the return of Starro the Conqueror. So get in on the ground floor of this new title and pick up the first issue today.

(If you want to look before you buy, you'll find the issue preview on ComicBookResources.com.)

Booster Gold Appeared Before Superman

Every Friday for the past ten years, Brian Cronin has run a regular "Comic Book Legends Revealed" post that clarifies some common misconceptions about comic book history. This past Friday, Booster Gold got a turn. Specifically, Superman's appearance in Booster Gold #6.

COMIC LEGEND: The first comic book appearance of the Post-Crisis Superman was in the pages of Booster Gold!

STATUS: I'm Going With True

[I]n the pages of Booster Gold #6 (by Dan Jurgens and Mike DeCarlo), Booster met Superman for the first time. ... Superman doesn't recognize the Legion of Superheroes flight ring, because THAT's the Post-Crisis Superman!

They essentially confirm it in the letter pages of Booster Gold #10, when people wrote in asking why Superman didn't recognize the ring.

Cronin included many great pictures with his article, but not the letter in reference. So here it is:

Dear Dan and Mike,
Just a short letter to let you know how much I'm enjoying BOOSTER GOLD. Number 6 was no exception, his origin is proving as intriguing as previous issues promised. For example, Booster comes from 500 years in the future yet he has weapons from the Legion who come come from 1000 years in the future. I see that the Legion will be appearing in a couple of future issues so hopefully this anomaly will be resolved. Also, Skeels mentions a

Understanding Convergence

DC will be including short primers in the various Convergence mini-series to catch newer readers up on the events that inspired these new comics. Obviously a lot happened during the JLI's decade-long run, and it's amusing to see what DC thinks readers will need help remembering, including these two panels:

© DC Comics
Justice League America #35
(1990)

© DC Comics
Justice League America #80
(1993)

The first panel is clearly the inspiration for the events of Countdown to Infinite Crisis, and the second is the single ugliest Booster Gold costume ever. Personally, I think they're both events in JLI history that I would rather forget!

You can see the whole piece at ComicBookResources.com.
