ANNOTATIONS

Page 3, panel 4
Booster Gold is among the Justice Leaguers assembled for Captain Atom's strategic planning conference during the Invasion! event, as seen in Invasion! Book Two. Pictured are Atom II, Batman, Dove II, Guy Gardner, Hawk, Hawkman II, Hawkwoman I, and Oberon. Appearing in the background of future panels are Aquaman, Elongated Man, Nuklon, and Phantom Stranger. This is Booster's first meeting with Dove II, Hawk's new partner.

Page 4, panel 2
Booster wastes little time before cutting in on Guy Gardner to hit on the new heroine, Dove. She wastes little time in rejecting Booster's advances.

Page 5, panel 5
Irritated by Booster's play for Dove, Hawk threatens Booster. No doubt, Hawk holds some lingering irritation over the outcome of their last encounter, in Booster Gold, Vol. 1, #17, where Booster saved Hawk's life, humiliating him in the process. Booster's comment here, "Watch the hair!", is a reference to a similar line by the Tony Manero character (played by John Travolta) in the film Saturday Night Fever.

REVIEWS

Boosterrific Review: For an issue returning second-tier heroes Hawk and Dove to their own series, this comic fails to engender much excitement or endearment with its generic art and story. Both Hawk and Dove exhibit their fair share of unpleasant personality traits with very little redeeming charm, and their supporting cast and villains are mostly forgettable. Hopefully this bland issue is not indicative of the future of this series.
