I Hope You Enjoyed Bat-Mite

Did you pick up the Bat-Mite trade on Wednesday? If not, what are you saving your money for? It certainly isn't for Booster Gold comics, because DC isn't making those.

May solicitations were revealed earlier this week. If you read the previous paragraph, you can guess what that means: no new Gold in sight.

While Booster doesn't look to be having any new adventures in May, he will be returning in reprints of some of our old favorites. DC will be re-releasing trades of 52 Book One and Superman: Panic in the Sky, both collecting comics published about 10 or 24 years ago, respectively.

Maybe DC has a point. Why should they work on making new Booster Gold comics when they already have a back catalog of great stories to sell to today's kids too young to remember the good old days? Kids still read comics, right?

You can find the whole list of DC's solicitations at Newsarama.com.

Hope Springs Eternal

Thanks to the highly unscientific Boosterrific.com poll, I think we can be reasonably sure that the Chip Kidd "Variant" is going to be the rarer (read: more expensive) cover in years to come.

Last week's poll question: Which cover for Convergence: Booster Gold #1 did you buy? (51 votes)

Which cover for <emn>Convergence: Booster Gold</em> #1 did you buy?

Over in the Boosterrific.com Forum, Morgenstern has brought it to our attention that Dan DiDio has said that one Convergence mini-series will "definitely continue on, but in a new setting." Matt SantoriGriffith (@FotoClub) wondered whether it might be Booster Gold.

"@FotoCub Booster is a little too obvious, don't you think?"
— Dan DiDio (@dandidio1), May 3, 2015, Twitter.com

So what Booster Gold fans to make of that?

Hope for the Future

If you had the ability to travel through time, you'd have to use it. With great power comes great Birthday parties.

Last week's poll question: If you were Booster Gold, how would you celebrate your -430th birthday on December 29, 2012? (33 votes)

Putting 2012 in our rear view mirrors, let's look forward to the great things we plan to experience with Booster Gold in 2013!

Hope, Faith, Charity

Today marks the global observance of World Kindness Day, a day set aside to remind humanity that we should all work together towards the goal of peaceful coexistence. Since Boosterrific.com is devoted to comic books, it is only natural that we celebrate with comic books!

Kindness isn't a trait that is widely associated with Booster Gold. In fact, Booster would probably be first choice as the celebrity spokesman for World Selfishness Day. (Is there any profit in that?) That doesn't mean that Booster shirks his responsibility to be excellent to each other, as seen in Booster Gold, vol. 1, #15.

Even if he has to do so anonymously. Hey, he's got his reputation to consider!

Booster Gold Versus Ambush Bug

A few days ago, Booster booster Harry reported in the Boosterrific Forum that final sales estimates were in for the entire Booster Gold run of Giffen and DeMatteis. All things being equal, the news isn't that bad.

Booster Gold sales May 2010 to April 2011

The sales fall seems to hit rock bottom with issue 41 and bounce back a little following the introduction of the Perforated Man. It's probably anyone's guess whether this is because the title finally found its sales floor, fans were excited about the storyline, or speculators were gathering for the pending Jurgens return/Flashpoint tie-in. If this is any indication, Booster Gold may still have a bit of life left. (Hopefully, this isn't simply a dead cat bounce.)
