ANNOTATIONS

Page 4, panel 5
The day is revealed to be a Friday. Of course Doomsday would strike on a Friday, ruining everyone's weekend.

Page 8, panel 2
Booster Gold and Superman arrive near a suburban Ohio house to confront the monster that Booster has named Doomsday.

Page 10, panel 1
POWER UP: Doomsday, still with only one hand free, uses Booster's face to topple a tree at least 2 feet in diameter. Booster's force field must have been operational at the time, otherwise his skull would have collapsed before the tree.

Page 12, panel 1
The Justice League unleashes their combined ranged attacks on Doomsday. Booster Gold shoots a two-handed Booster Shot; Superman, his Heat Vision; Fire, a stream of fire; Guy Gardner, a yellow laser; and Bloodwynd, an undefined eye-beam. The effect is impressive to everyone but Doomsday.

Page 13, panel 4
The League presses their attack until Fire is exhausted and Booster's power cells are drained. Booster comments that without his suit's power, he's as strong as Pee Wee Herman. Pee-Wee Herman was a popular late 1980s children's show host known for his childlike persona until he was arrested for masturbating in public. Pee-Wee was popular enough to earn write-in votes when readers were polled for the new Justice League membership during the "Breakdowns" storyline beginning in Justice League America #53.

Page 14, panel 3
The effect of the League's combined assault on Doomsday is revealed: Doomsday now has both hands free!

Page 16, panel 4
POWER DOWN: ...destroys his power suit,...

Page 16, panel 7
...slams his head in a car door,...

Page 16, panel 11
...breaks his bones,...

Page 17, panel 2
...and throws his limp body at Guy Gardner. This qualifies as a bad day.

Booster is shown lying limply in an unnatural pose, defeated along with the rest of the Justice League. Only Superman still stands.

REVIEWS

Boosterrific Review: The genius of this issue is giving the Justice League and Superman a very real object to defend: a struggling family. With quick strokes, the family is established not as a stereotype, but as a collection of real people completely out of their depth against Doomsday, a rampaging force of nature. With the lives of three innocents in the balance, the heroes are forced into a pitched battle that cannot end well for them despite their combined power. A great story that showcases both the power and the morality of some of the DC Universe's greatest heroes.
