With the final issue of Booster Gold due tomorrow, perhaps it's time to refresh your memory about the last issue with Russ Burlingame's most recent "Gold Exchange" column at ComicRelated.com. (My apologies for not linking sooner. First Comic-Con got in the way, and well, now here we are. Sorry, Russ.)

GX: The other side of that, of course, is that she's different from The Parasite (and, for that matter, Rogue) in that she doesn't seem to harm the people from whom she takes the power, right?

DJ: You're right-- she's different from the Parasite. But I think it's important to note that there's a great deal we don't know about her-- and she may not know about herself.

GX: Also: Booster's powers are not natural; she can apparently "borrow" power from inanimate objects, too?

DJ: Yes. It doesn't have to be a biologically based super power.

GX: If Alex is copying Booster's powers, why are her blasts green? Much has been made of the green-ness of it among fans who are speculating who or what she might represent in the Flashpoint Universe.

DJ: Once again, there is a lot about her that has not been revealed, as well as the notion that she, herself, doesn't have a complete understanding of what she is, what she can do and what actually happens as part of the process.

Jurgens does a find job of not explaining that, doesn't he? This probably means that he plans on addressing this in the future. With only one issue of Booster Gold remaining, here's hoping he acts fast. (Or will we be seeing Alexandria in the future?)

It's just so magnificent.

Two weeks ago, Boosterrific.com was looking for some posters and received terrific support from you readers. Now we're hoping that you'll give Boosterrific.com the shirts off your backs!

The shirt above featuring Kevin Maguire's Super Buddies was brought to my attention last weekend by Russ Burlingame. Booster is hard to see for the shadow, but he is in that group shot looking over Beetle's right shoulder. A search for more information about that shirt has led to hints that there have been several DC licensed shirts released over the years featuring group images (JLI, Super Buddies) that may contain Booster Gold.

So far as I am aware, there are two internet journalists regularly writing Booster Gold-centric articles. One is Russ Burlingame, who most of you probably know from his "Gold Exchange" columns over at Comic Related. The other is Vaneta Rogers of Newsarama, who last week posted a new interview with some other familiar Booster Gold-related names, Keith Giffen and J.M. DeMatteis, on their upcoming DC Retroactive: Justice League of America - The '90s #1.

Nrama: What Justice League characters are the focus?

DeMatteis: It's the classic team. Fire and Ice. Beetle and Booster. Max and Oberon. J'onn and Guy. If you're looking for any kind of character growth from these guys, look elsewhere. It's the usual idiocy and mayhem.

Giffen: If people are huge fans, it's the JLI they know and love. You'll recognize it right away.

Russ Burlingame's latest "Gold Exchange" column with Dan Jurgens was posted late last week on Comic Related.com. Unfortunately, this month's column doesn't touch on the biggest Booster Gold news of the month: the impending demise of Booster Gold Volume 2, but it's not without its value.

GX: If he can track chronal energy using the defense department computers, I've got to wonder: can he see the Speed Force? And if so, does the fact that he didn't cross-reference that with chronal residue to find Zoom indicate that the Speed Force maybe doesn't work the same way here?

DJ: Booster has the equipment that can certainly detect and isolate the chronal residue within the speed force, particularly if someone isn't working to hide it.

Booster Gold can see un-obfuscated evidence of time travel in the Speed Force? That's certainly a new and cool (if apparently useless) power.

In general, Dan Jurgens is tight-lipped in interviews. He rarely if ever gives away any secrets about his upcoming stories. That's great if you want to avoid spoilers, but frustrating as the firmament of the DC Universe appears to be reshaping itself beneath our feet. In the past few days, Jurgens has given interviews to both Comic Related and Newsarama that may contain clues to the future of Booster Gold.

From "Dan Jurgens on life after Flashpoint " by Russ Burlingame at Comic Related:

CR: This is probably a conversation for another time, but Booster Gold has been the protector of the timeline. What happens here, a massive shift in history and continuity and all that, seems to suggest that he fails rather spectacularly. Was mitigating that impression part of why Booster was allowed to be "the guy who gets to see Flashpoint"?

DJ: I don't think this change suggests that at all. With a lot of this, you have to wait until you read the end of the story.

CR: Of all the characters in the JLI, it appears as though Booster Gold is the character who got the most radical redesign of his costume. That seems to dash the theories that a lot of us had about his being the "Psycho Pirate" of the new universe--the one guy who remembers the way it used to be. Will we get a real, solid ending for Booster, Rip and company since their role in Flashpoint lends it to one more than any other title?

DJ: I'll be happy to answer questions about the end of Booster Gold and Flashpoint... once it appears in print. No writer gives away his ending!

Bad news first: Jurgens appears to be confirming the cancellation of Booster Gold Volume 2. However, Jurgens is a crafty interviewee, so we can only take his responses at face value. It's always best not to read too far into his responses. (Keep hope alive!)

Newsarama: Dan, what attracted you to writing the Justice League International?

Dan Jurgens: It's the Justice League! International style, yes, but it is still a vehicle for some of DC's best heroes, which as part of this new launch, is tremendously appealing.

I've always been drawn to books that allow for a wide range of stories that have a chance to be big in scope, and the JLI certainly fits that description. Plus, it's a chance to continue to lift Booster Gold's profile, which we've been working on the past few years.

Nrama: Is this the whole team?

Jurgens: This is the whole team for this issue! After that... things can change.

The good news is that Jurgens is committed to raising the profile of Booster Gold. This means there will be plenty of Booster in the upcoming Justice League International series. Better still, if things are really so flexible in the future, maybe Booster won't be stuck with that terrible costume for too long!
