Farewell to Dick Girodano
Dick Giordano died this past Saturday at the age of 77. Although Giordano's direct impact on the published adventures of Booster Gold is comparatively small, his indirect influence on the character's legacy, and the comic book industry in general, is immeasurable. For whatever else he has done, and did more than any brief tribute could hope to mention during his nearly 50 years in the business, Giordano deserves credit for bringing Blue Beetle into the DC pantheon, paving the way for the enduring antics of Booster Gold and Blue Beetle. Thank you, Mr. Giordano. [You can find the reminiscences of several artists, including Dan Jurgens, on Dick Giordano at Newsarama.com.]

Party with Booster Gold and Blue Beetle
Last week, Comics Alliance ran an article by Chris Sims about which comic book characters from DC and Marvel would be the most fun to party with. (Booster Gold and Blue Beetle score 3 out of 10 party hats.) While I thought that was news enough to post in and of itself, trying to rediscover that link to post here today accidentally led me to discover Boostle, a Live Journal blog devoted to all things Blue and Gold. A website devoted to Booster Gold? What a great idea!

JLI Movie Fan Casting
If the Academy Awards have you in the mood for movies, Fansites over at Comicbookmovies.com produced a proposed cast list for a JLI movie late last week. While I'm not much for this sort of thing (I'm not a big fan of hypotheticals: I prefer things I can count, like actual comic book appearances, 'natch), they chose television's Teddy Sears as Booster Gold and James Roday as Blue Beetle. That sounds like something that I'd watch. Aw, who am I kidding. I'd watch a movie with Booster and Beetle if they were played by Ethan Suplee and Andy Dick. I'd complain about it, but I'd still watch.

New Release: JLI TPB Volume 4
DC is scheduled to release the softcover trade collection of Justice League International issues 23 through 30 today. If you don't already have these, now's a pretty good time to pick 'em up, especially seeing as how they include the first solo Blue and Gold story (JLI #25).

Why a Booster Gold Blog?
At this point you're probably saying that surely there can't be enough Booster Gold related news to blog about on a nearly daily basis. Well, here's hoping you're wrong. After all, it's just recently been announced that Booster Gold will be appearing in a second title, Justice League: Generation Lost, and that Dan Jurgens will be leaving Booster Gold, not to mention the fact that the Blue Beetle co-feature is soon to be canceled. And all that's newsworthy, right? (Besides, this blog allows for a pretty clean way for me to link to all of those stories that I couldn't really do before in the old format.)
Boosterrific Blog: because knowing is half the battle.
