New Releases: Booster Gold & Generation Lost
Booster Gold, Volume 2, #38 and Justice League: Generation Lost #13 are scheduled to hit stands today. So pick your poison: slapstick or retcon? Buy them both and make Skeets happy.
UPDATE: Booster also makes a cameo appearance in today's Batman: The Return of Bruce Wayne finale.

No Booster Gold in Detective Comics
Over at DCcomics.com, DC indicates that it is shipping 22 books this week, and none appear to contain an appearance of Booster Gold! Travesty!
Amazingly, 7 of the 22, nearly a third, either have Batman in the title or on the cover. (An eighth cover pictures Bane, one of Batman's foes.) Looking forward, next week sees 7 books of Batman or his spin-offs out of 21. The trend continues with 10 of 27 in two weeks, and 9 of 21 at month's end! To be fair, these numbers do include a lot of Robin and trade collections, but that's still an astonishing amount of Batman related merchandise: 33 of 91 DC books in November feature a Batman-related property based on covers alone.
Is this big Batman publishing bat-nanza because the company is named after the initials of Batman's debut title, Detective Comics? Does this mean that we would be instead be seeing a flood of Booster Gold comics if the company was renamed BG Comics? I for one say yes. So get to it, DC. Change your name, and get us some more Booster Gold.

Dressed for Failure
We're reliving the glorious 1990s today as Booster Gold makes yet another internet list: The 16 Worst 90s Superhero Redesigns at popcrunch.com. I'm not saying that I agree with everything on that list -- I kind of enjoyed electric Superman -- but Booster's mechanical armor? Yeah, that was bad. (It was, of course, supposed to be bad. But not in the same self-referential way that Azrael/Batman was supposed to be bad.)

Booster Gold on TV Tonight!
I don't usually realize that Booster Gold will make appearances on Cartoon Network's Batman: the Brave and the Bold until I see him show up in an episode. (I hate spoilers so much, I can't even look at TV listings!) But since last week's episode ended in a bit of a cliffhanger, I can be pretty sure that he'll be on tonight's episode as well. It helps that Comicvine.com also happens to have a preview of tonight's episode that includes Booster Gold, so there was that bit of a tip off, too.
Remember: Batman: the Brave and the Bold, "The Siege of Starro!: Part 2," Cartoon Network, 7PM EDT, tonight.

I Am So Gonna Hurk
Booster Gold and Skeets helped Batman save the world from Starro the galaxy-conquering starfish in the Batman: The Brave and the Bold episode "The Siege of Starro, Part One" this past Friday night. Booster was attacked by Ace the Bat-Hound (I love that dog) and expanded his team-up with Batman to include B'Wana Beast, Captain Marvel, and Firestorm. That's some pretty good company if you've got to save the world!
This is the beginning of the end for Batman: The Brave and the Bold: only 26 new episodes remain. There are still 13 episodes yet to be aired from the second half of Season 2, and the entire 13 episodes of Season 3. It may be a little early for mourning, however. We probably won't see Season 3 in America until next fall, given how stingy Cartoon Network has been in doling out episodes in previous seasons. At least we know that there are Booster Gold-centric episodes remaining (as J.M. DeMatteis has previously admitted that he wrote a Blue and Gold episode for the series.
It's disappointing to think that this show is already a dead man walking. The cancellation was announced back at Comic Con in July. Warner Brothers wants to restore the Batman cartoons to a more serious tone. I'm going to miss a Batman cartoon that that can homage comic books like The Brave and the Bold #28 and Sugar and Spike in the same episode, but if the writers can find a way to work Booster Gold into the new series, I won't hold a grudge. (I'm still waiting for my time-traveling Booster Gold appearance in the serious-as-a-heart-attack Batman Beyond Universe.)
