If you didn't already notice Mr. Chaos' link in the forum (making this "Gold Exchange Tuesday" post somewhat redundant), Russ Burlingame has posted his latest "Gold Exchange" column at newsarama.com. In regards to questions about why Booster Gold #40 contained a re-telling of Booster's origin, writer J.M. DeMatteis is quoted:
"We were told this had to be a 'jump on' issue: That's why we did the recap."
DeMatteis also admits that the discrepancies in Booster's origin in that issue were intentional. Whether you believe him or not is up to you. (I run a website devoted to chronicling the most minute details of Booster Gold's adventures, and it didn't bother me. But I don't expect that fact to carry much weight with anyone else.)

In a statement released last week by co-Publishers Jim Lee and Dan DiDio, DC Comics will put ratings that are all but identical to the ESRB video game ratings system on all of its comic books. New issues of Booster Gold will be brought to you by the letter "T."
The Comics Code Authority seal was affixed to the cover of each issue of Booster Gold Volume 1. The preamble of the CCA at the time advised, "This seal of approval appears only on comics magazines which have been carefully reviewed, prior to publication, by the Comics Code Authority, and found to have met the high standards of morality and decency required by the code."
The DC "T" rating breaks it down a little differently by simply notifying, "Appropriate for readers age 12 and older. May contain mild violence, language and/or suggestive themes."
Which would you as a parent feel more comfortable handing your child? While the old code represented values, the new code only provides a content disclaimer. How American.

While I think the CCA seal is more iconic and fitting with comics, the seal doesn't appear too much on DC comic books. <br />The new rating is also similar to, like you said, the ESRB and video games. Perhaps this is a PR attempt to get kids interested in comic books because it has a similar factor to something that has become the main pop culture revenue. <br />That said, I'd still prefer the CCA.

I found the CCA seal to not be very informative. I found wide ranging material in comics with the CCA, and it isn't on most comics these days. As a parental resource, it was too vague. I find the rating system more informative, but I will still be reading the material to judge for myself. The rating is useful to me because it provides an expectation of what content I might find (assuming the standards are kept consistent).

I don't mean to suggest that I found the CCA a necessity. I suspect that my lingering attachment is primarily nostalgic. (It was on all my favorite books when I discovered comic books: that's a powerful attachment, relevant or not.) The gradual disuse of the CCA certainly made it much less useful in the past decade. (I suspect most readers under 20 have never even heard of it.) I am in favor of any tool that can help spread an appreciation of comics to the uninitiated. If this new rating system can do it, I'm for it.

As a footnote, Vaneta Rogers has an article up over at newsarama.com suggesting that the CCA existed in name only for the past year, and maybe only DC Comics new it. I guess I'm okay with these ratings.<br />They're simple and clear.<br />The comic code was only there for ol' times' sake, they even said that once or twice over at DC's Source blog.<br />My question is where will Geoff Johns books fall in? He's known for his over-the-top violence and gore lately. (Red Lanterns, Blackest Night..)

Soaps.com reports that Smallville has cast its Booster Gold:
His name is Eric Martsolf. According to IMDB, he has been acting professionally on screen for a decade, mainly on in soap operas. This means that I am completely unfamiliar with his work. If you need to read up on him, as I did, there is more info available on his Official Website, ericmartsolf.com.
He'll need a good bleaching to get Booster's golden hair. Otherwise, we'll see how he holds up as the Corporate Crusader come April. Good luck, Eric. We'll be watching.

When was Booster ever really serious? ;P<br />Now, all I want to know is if they're going for the cheap route (Martian Manhunter, Flash, Cyborg, Bizarro..) or the faithful one (Hawkman, Zatanna Dr. Fate..)<br />The same goes for the 2 announced Blue Beetles

I stumbled across Gina's website while google image searching "Blue Beetle Booster Gold," and I ordered a handmade Booster Gold jacket from her. I'm very pleased with how it turned out- the jacket is durable but light, so it can be worn even during cooler summer days like a windbreaker. But I've been wearing it outside in 20 degree temperature with a long sleeve underneath and I've been good, too. Aside from all the bugged out stares as I walk by in my flamboyant yellow and blue jacket! (Hey, stares won't stop me promoting my favorite superhero!)

Hey, look at that! Ha, that's the costume I had Gina make for me after I was impressed by her jackets. I got a jacket as well and both are fantastic quality. I'd 100% recommend it.<br />My link up there's got a picture of me wearing it from my Tumblr--unfortunately the best one I've got of me in it as of yet.<br />I love hanging it up in my closet. Makes it look like Booster deflated himself on a hanger.

Justice League International Volume 5, collecting Justice League International Annual #2 and #3 plus early issues of the JLE, is scheduled for release today. There's definitely some Booster Gold in that. And I'm not making any promises, but it seems very likely that Booster will at least get a mention in Power Girl #20, the events of which take place between Justice League: Generation Lost issues #16 and #17.
And if that's not enough to tide you over until the next Booster Gold release, be aware that I've combined and updated the house advertisements/psa page to try to make them more user friendly. according to Newsarama and DC, Time Masters is apparently back on schedule for this week.<br />I have to go to get the Green Arrow issue I missed, so if it is out I will let everyone know on the boards.

Do you mean, like, "this week" today? The store I was in earlier today didn't have it, and it is not on Diamond's ship list for this week (1/19) or next week (1/26). Diamond is the absolute authority on what ships, so I trust their list. DC still has the book scheduled to ship 2/2. If you do find a copy of TIME MASTERS: VANISHING POINT #6, please do let us know.

I also suspect TM#6 was ready on time. Jurgens has never been prone to the chronic delays that plague other artists. To be fair, I have heard that drawing/inking/coloring the Flash can be a demanding chore because of the Speed Force effects.

I'm just guessing here, but I'm thinking that the delays in TIME MASTERS are not about Jurgens, Hi-Fi or anything else. I think it's all about Johns, Reverse Flash and Flashpoint. Delaying releases until they can complement what's already out from the Maestro.
