An Earned Vacation
Booster Gold was all over DC's solicitations for March last month, so let's not be too panicky that he's nowhere to be found in the April solicitations released last week (which you can read yourself at GamesRadar.com). Our hero has earned a Spring break.
On an unrelated note, just weeks after Cort shared his Boosterrific John McCrea commission with us, DC is soliciting for an omnibus of the 1990s Garth Ennis/McCrae collaboration Hitman. Booster and Tommy "Hitman" Monaghan only crossed paths once (in Bloodlines #2), so don't expect to find him in there. But if you liked the style of McCrea's sketch, you'll find more to like in Hitman.

Drown Your Sorrows
Booster booster Marty directed me to this image on The App That Used To Be Twitter:
The whatever-it-is that-we're-calling-tweets-now implies that cocktail menu comes from "the #BlueBeetle after party", whatever that was. As you can (barely) see at the bottom of the list, there's a drink there named for Ted Kord's best buddy, Booster Gold.
The ingredients read "Mezcal, Ancho Piña Shrub, Grapefruit, Lime, Close Honey, Angostura." Full disclosure here: I'm an absolute teetotaler. I haven't had an alcoholic beverage since the Olympic Games were held in Atlanta, Georgia. (It was a Tom Collins.) So my working knowledge of cocktails is a little rusty, and I have no idea what that tastes like, much less what some of those ingredients even are.
But my Google skills are strong. Allowing for typos — "close" should be "clove" — and a brand-sponsored tequila substitution, it seems those ingredients combine to make what Difford's Guide calls a Mercado Roma and The Educated Barfly calls an Oaxacanite. Here's a picture of a good-looking presentation of those drinks on Instagram:
It's certainly the right color.
As for whether this hints at any role Booster might play in the movie... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ . I guess we'll find out when the film hits theaters on August 18.
Thanks for the drink, Marty.

Summer Vacation
Don't expect to see Booster Gold in any of this week's books. Don't expect to see him in any book in August, either.
DC released their August solicitations last week with nary a Booster in sight. Nor even a Dan Jurgens credit, which is important because Jurgens has historically been the one to sneak Booster back into the spotlight.
To be fair, most of the August books tie-in to the Knight Terrors event, and I can't say I'm sad that Booster looks to be missing out on that. (Perhaps he'll show up as a cameo appearance in someone else's nightmare?)
August does have a one-shot G'nort's Illustrated Swimsuit special. Could we see Booster in that? G'nort was Booster's Justice League International teammate for a while, and no hero in the DCU looks better in a swimsuit than our hero, as demonstrated in 2020's DC Cybernetic Summer!
And even if we don't have new comics coming, we've still got plenty of old comics to read. Comics like 2014's Scribblenauts Unmasked: A Crisis of Imagination #7. I didn't know about that one until J told me last week. Thanks, J.
Keep your eyes peeled, Booster boosters. You never know where you'll find Booster Gold next!

Lucky City
I love praise, and I also love seeing Booster Gold in comics. So I especially love this message I got last week from Rasalonn:
Hi. Love the blog. In the new Catwoman book, Zatanna is shown working at a casino. And there is a single image of the casino and it has to be owned by Booster Gold . Does that count? Even if it's not him, it is a clear reference to him.
The book Rasalonn is talking about is Catwoman: Lonely City #4, which takes place ten years after the death of Batman. Pictured on page 4 of that issue is this sequence:
written, drawn, colored by Cliff Chiang
So is that "Gold's" casino a reference to former gambler Booster Gold? I don't know. The last time we saw a Las Vegas casino of the future (in 2019's Old Lady Harley #3), the Booster Gold connection was more clear.
Lonely City gives us no more hints than what we see in those panels, but CBR.com certainly agrees with Rasalonn. Too bad issue #4 is the finale. I hope DC greenlights a sequel just so we can find out for sure.
Thank you, Rasalonn, for bringing this to our attention.

Catching Up on Solicitations
I've already covered Booster Gold's appearance in the upcoming Generations Forged (due February 23), but that's not the only BG appearance included in DC's February solicitation as provided by GamesRadar.com.
First up is the collected edition of Booster's recent guest-starring role in Batman Beyond #47, #48, and #49:
BATMAN BEYOND VOL. 8: THE ERADICATION AGENDA TP
written by DAN JURGENS art by SEAN CHEN, SEAN PARSON, PAUL PELLETIER, and NORM RAPMUND
In the final volume of Batman Beyond, Batman and Batman Beyond meet at least, with Booster Gold caught in the middle! But first, Terry McGinnis forges an uneasy alliance with Damian Wayne in order to stop Mr. Zero and his radical faction from turning Gotham City into an ice-covered hellscape. To set things right, Batman, Damian, and Batwoman Beyond must declare war on the League of Assassins! And one more thing: Inque returns, posing as Batman and wreaking havoc in Gotham City! Collects Batman Beyond #43-50.

Whew! That's a lot of comics in one book. I recommend reading it at a table. If you try to read it in your lap, you might lose circulation in your legs.
And, since we were very recently on the subject, I should mention that BleedingCool.com has uncovered that a new edition of Bizarro Comics is coming in the summer:
BIZARRO COMICS THE DELUXE EDITION
Comic icons come together to tell the strange and wonderful tales of BIZARRO! The tales of Superman's twisted doppelganger, BIZARRO, are collected in this brilliant deluxe edition format! Follow along as Bizarro decides to publish his own comics from BIZARRO COMICS HC #1 and through the strange and wonderful tales told in BIZARRO WORLD!
On sale June 22, 2021
(Bleeding Cool also alerts us to an upcoming 10th Anniversary collection for the New 52 relaunch due in August, but so far it looks like it will just be a select few titles and will not include Booster Gold's Justice League International. I'll be sure to let you know if that changes.)
Obviously none of those are new Booster Gold appearances, but I'm sure many of these books will introduce Booster to new audiences, and that's a good thing, too.
