ANNOTATIONS

Page 12, panel 1
Booster Gold, Cyborg, and Hawkgirl help Superman clean up a Manhunter fortress in the New Mexico desert that has been taken over by the alien artificial intelligence Kilg%re. Booster has a long history with both villains. He first encountered Kilg%re in Justice League International #12, cover dated 1988. Earlier that same year, the Manhunters had stolen his fortune to force an alliance in Booster Gold #24.

Page 13, panel 1
During a lull in the action, Booster tries to convince Superman to promote Big Belly Burger. Is Booster a BBB investor now? Maybe he owns a franchise.

Page 13, panel 5
Superman and Booster bond over the fact that they both played quarterback. In Post-Crisis on Infinite Earths continuity (and on television's Smallville), Clark Kent played quarterback for his Smallville high school football team, and Michael Carter played college ball for Gotham University (in the 25th century). It is worth noting that Kent, who champions ethical behavior, used supernatural abilities to excel on the field, while Carter, who is often derided for his much grayer interpretation of morality, rose to the highest levels of his sport using only his natural athletic ability.
