Page 10, panel 4
Booster Gold and Skeets II arrive in the El Paso, Texas home of Jaime Reyes, the young man who found the missing scarab of the Blue Beetle in Infinite Crisis #3. Booster is the first hero of the DC Universe to meet Reyes, who will soon become the third Blue Beetle.

Reyes recognizes Booster as "the dude on my toothpaste." This is the first hint of Booster's sponsorship of Gleam Toothpaste, as seen in the pages of 52. A poster on the wall behind Booster is of Captain Carrot, leader of the Zoo Crew of Earth-C, an alternate universe world that may have survived the events of the Crisis on Infinite Earths miniseries. Geoff Johns, writer of this issue, is reportedly a fan of the 1983 Captain Carrot and His Amazing Zoo Crew comic book, and is known to include references to Captain Carrot into a number of his projects.

Though Booster and Skeets II are a new team, they continue the playful banter longtime fans have come to expect from the pair. Skeets comments that Booster would replace the tooth fairy "if it paid well," (referencing Booster's love of money) and Booster calls Skeets an "eBay reject" (implying that Skeets doesn't have enough value to be worth selling).

The scarab has lodged itself inside Reyes' body, a turn of events Booster had not expected. Never before in the scarabs history had it performed such a feat. It's first modern owner, Dan Garrett, the first Blue Beetle, dimply held the scarab and was granted its powers. The scarab never provided the second Blue Beetle with any sort of assistance at all. Because of this unexpected development, Booster must choose a new course of action that what he had apparently planned.

Boosterrific Review: The destruction of Bludhaven. A new host for the Spectre. Superboy vs. the Titans. The return of Barry Allen. These are the reasons that fans look forward to these giant event stories. Geoff Johns knows that and is giving it in spades. Drop everything and read this comic book.
