ISSUE SUMMARY

Cover Description: Captain Atom, Maxima, Booster Gold, and Blue Beetle fight in a field of fire above the broken stone form of Amazing Man.

Brief Synopsis: The members of Captain Atom's Justice League struggle to solve the mysteries of their new home, Mount Thunder.

Issue Summary: In the corridors of Mount Thunder, Captain Atom and Maxima confront Atom's old Air Force team, the Peacekeepers. The confrontation ends peacefully after a brief conversation between Atom and Crater, the new leader of the Peacekeepers.

Meanwhile, General Synge is en route to Nevada. The General perceives Atom as a threat to the true, secret mission of Mount Thunder, and activates the Beta Team to to remove Atom from the base through any means necessary.

Back in Mount Thunder, Captain Atom and Blue Beetle discuss their motivations for forming their team. Captain Atom envisions his team as a force for good, but Blue Beetle won't be ordered around like a lackey. The pair form a truce.

Elsewhere, in New York, Ronnie Raymond visits the remains of the Justice League International headquarters, hoping to find help for his cancer. Oberon has been searching the rubble for personal effects, and has uncovered Skeets. Skeets is sympathetic to Ronnie's predicament and agrees to help him find the Justice League.

Booster Gold has joined Blue Beetle and Captain Atom in investigating the Mount Thunder computer system. Amazing Man and Maxima are exploring the underground complex when they are attacked by the Beta Team. The rest of the team rushes to their aid, and Captain Atom is apparently disintegrated. Page 11, panel 5
Skeets and Oberon join Ronnie Raymond, half of Firestorm, at the site of the former United Nations' sanctioned Justice League America Headquarters in New York City. The headquarters was destroyed by the Overmaster's second Cadre in Justice League International, Vol. 2, #65. This is Skeets' first appearance since Justice League America #87, and the first ever appearance of Skeets without Booster Gold nearby.

As Blue Beetle II marvels at the abilities of the computers inside Mount Thunder, Booster Gold suggests that he search for his "old agent," who owes him "big money." Dirk Davis has not been seen since the events of Millennium, where he robbed Booster and his company, BGI, Inc., of all of its assets, estimated to be worth several billion dollars in 1987.

ISSUE REVIEW

Boosterrific Review: Writer Dan Vado manages to squeeze some significant character development into this action-packed issue, but it will be hard to notice buried as it is in the disfiguring art of Marc Campos. This book would be vastly improved if Campos had taken some drawing courses in basic anatomy.
