He Meant to Do That

Matt Brownell has posted a list of "8 Career Mistakes of Superheroes" at Mainstreet.com. Booster Gold makes the list for selecting Dirk Davis as his manager. Sure, Davis turned out to be a sympathetic agent of a race of evil alien robots, but Booster should have known he was no good when his earlier clients were professional wrestlers. Wrestling managers specialize in betraying their clients, usually with folding chairs.

Booster is in good company on the list. Iron Man, Spider-Man, and Superman are among the others making mistakes. Isn't it just like Micheal Jon Carter to emulate his heroes, the A-list super heroes?

What Is It with the Internet and Lists?

As pointed out in Friday's comments, Booster Gold has made it into the list of the top 100 comic book heroes. Booster is sandwiched between Fone Bone and Beast and ranked far higher than some long-running DC big names like Supergirl and the Spectre.

The list was compiled by the editorial staff at IGN.com, a website primarily devoted to video games (in their own words, they are "obsessed with gaming, entertainment, and everything guys enjoy") and appears to be ordered by the opinion of the editorial staff (clearly not in alphabetical order).

I'm not saying that the editors at IGN aren't qualified to decide what comics they like and put them in order. In fact, I'm a bit impressed that Booster Gold, who has never been a playable character in a video game, would make it onto their list at all. What I am saying is that if I were to make a list based on my opinion of the top 100 comic book heroes, Booster would be ranked number 1. Skeets would be number 2.

You can read the whole list starting from the top at IGN.com here.

The Internet Loves Lists!

When a blogger has nothing else to do, he makes a list post. I don't know why, but I'm not going to fight nature on this. Instead, I'll make a list of lists that include Booster Gold.

  1. iFanboy.com presents a list of the 5 worst Giffen-era JLI fashion moments. All things being equal, Booster's 80s fashion was considerably better than his 90s fashion, which included bolo ties and cutoff sweatshirts. Ugh.
  2. egotvonline.com provides a list of 10 obscure DC movie-ready properties that should have been adapted prior to Jonah Hex. I love Elongated Man as much as any other Gingold drinker, but I'm not sure that America is quite ready for his wiggling nose.
  3. mytopdozen.com proposes the 12 best dc comics characters who can fly. Seriously. I include this list because its very existence makes me giggle. Thank you internet.
