Special Guest Star in This Issue? It's Thor!
My favorite part of running Boosterrific.com is discovering things I've never seen before in comics that I thought I knew. For example, just this week Ariel Justel dropped by the Boosterrific Facebook page to point out something I must have missed in my two dozen or so readings of Booster Gold, Volume 1, #6:
That's Thor walking through Metropolis' Centennial Park in the background of page 2, panel 1! I thought I had looked pretty hard at these pages, but I never realized that the little blue blob was Marvel Comics' Mjonir-toting God of Thunder until I broke out a magnifying glass to confirm Ariel's sighting.
What other Easter eggs has Dan Jurgens hidden in the original series that I'd never spotted before? Now I have a whole new reason to read my Booster Gold comics! Thanks, Ariel.

New Release: Blue Beetle #10
Booster Gold's one-panel appearance in Wednesday's Blue Beetle, Volume 3, #10 caught me entirely by surprise, despite the fact that we all knew Booster would be guest starring in next month's issue #11. (We did all know that and were already planning to purchase it, right?) Thanks to Morgenstern for pointing this appearance out.
To make up for my lax oversight, I present to you the Blue Beetle comic I wish Booster Gold had appeared in this week:
The above image must be the best All Star issue that DC never published. Unwilling to wait for DC to get around to publishing this series, clearly the greatest idea in the history of comics, Thormeister created this as the cover to an entire 7-page story pitting the pair against Darth Vader. You can find that whole story and more in Thormeister's gallery at Deviant Art.

Unauthorized Booster and Beetle
No new release from DC for Booster Gold today, so maybe you'd like to take a look at an old, unauthorized release. Morgenstern -- who seems to be on a mission of his own, tracking down Booster Gold across the farthest corners of the internet -- recommends xanykaos' Booster and Beetle comic on Deviant Art.
Complete with a surprise guest appearance of another notable couple of time travelers, this little comic from 2009-2010 will make you laugh and cry. Hey, DC, why can't you scrap one of the 9 Batman-related comics on shelves this week to make room for more books like this?

Not Your Father's Comic Code
In a statement released last week by co-Publishers Jim Lee and Dan DiDio, DC Comics will put ratings that are all but identical to the ESRB video game ratings system on all of its comic books. New issues of Booster Gold will be brought to you by the letter "T."
The Comics Code Authority seal was affixed to the cover of each issue of Booster Gold Volume 1. The preamble of the CCA at the time advised, "This seal of approval appears only on comics magazines which have been carefully reviewed, prior to publication, by the Comics Code Authority, and found to have met the high standards of morality and decency required by the code."
The DC "T" rating breaks it down a little differently by simply notifying, "Appropriate for readers age 12 and older. May contain mild violence, language and/or suggestive themes."
Which would you as a parent feel more comfortable handing your child? While the old code represented values, the new code only provides a content disclaimer. How American.
