Stop Toying with Our Emotions!

Some of you might have seen this over the weekend at Examiner.com:

According to a Twitter post made by Latino-Review's Umberto Gonzalez on Saturday, he got some news from the the "Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice" set that Booster Gold and Blue Beetle was spotted on location. The Grip Department confirms this and Craft Services made the report.

Blue and Gold in Batman v. Superman? That sounds great, right? Don't get too excited; the source reported for the article later claimed he was only joking. Think of it as an April Fools' Day prank in mid-October.

Bros, the BLUE BEETLE & BOOSTER GOLD tweet was a joke! Sarcasm yo! lol
— Umberto Gonzalez (@elmayimbe) October 18, 2014

(Russ Burlingame expands on how tweeting a false "breaking" news story can be considered a "joke" at ComicBook.com. Burlingame would never do such a thing, would you, Russ?)

Of course, that doesn't mean that Blue and Gold won't be in BvS:DoJ. It just means that we don't have any proof yet. We'll find out for sure when the movie hits theaters in 2016.

News This Big Deserves Its Own Post

Remember last month when Bleeding Cool told us that Booster Gold and Blue Beetle would be turning up in Justice League 3000 #12? Well, Vaneta Rogers and Newsarama.com finally confirmed it at 10AM this morning.

Newsarama: Keith, we've been hearing that issue #12 has some new characters that people should be happy to see. And now that issue #12 is about to be solicited, are you ready to reveal who's coming to Justice League 3000?

Keith Giffen: Yes! Booster Gold and Blue Beetle are coming to Justice League 3000, as of issue #12.

I'm not going to keep this a secret anymore. I mean, if Beetle and Booster are coming back, we should scream it from the rooftops, right? Maybe more people will buy it who are Beetle and Booster fans, and not be surprised and miss the issue. So I'm not really big on hiding stuff anymore.

O frabjous day! I'm already reserving a place in line to buy Justice League 3000 #12 when it hits stands in December.

I know that many fans weaned on the Johns/Katz volume of Booster Gold don't care for Giffen/DeMatteis' take, and that's okay. However, even the news that Justice League 3000 takes place in an alternate universe free from the shenanigans of the New 52 fills me with unbridled glee.

This revelation means that despite all of DC's posturing in recent years over the inviolability of the New 52, the multiverse — or hypertime or elseworlds or whatever you want to call it — is alive and well and somewhere the "real" Justice League International continues its never-ending battle for truth, justice, and a little bit of respect! Somewhere, Wally West is still the Fastest Man Alive and Captain Atom isn't Dr. Manhattan.

It also means that somewhere, Michelle, Rani, and Rip Hunter are running from rampaging dinosaurs, and that the Black Beetle and Rex Hunter could return to take their revenge on Booster Gold's wife. What's not to love?

For complete details, I recommend that you read the rest of the article at Newsarama.com.

EDIT: This post original ran on Friday, September 12 at 4PM EDT.

The Rumors Category Is Getting a Workout

Back in April, BleedingCool.com told the world that Booster Gold comic would be part of the Futures End tie-ins in September. Now Rich Johnston teases us with another forthcoming Booster Gold appearance:

Well, Bleeding Cool understands that [Justice League 3000] issue # 12 will feature two folks from an earlier incarnation of the Justice League. A much earlier incarnation. My favourite incarnation, from before the New 52 relaunch.

Blue Beetle and Booster Gold, from the bwah-ha-ha-ha era of the Justice League, uncovered after being trapped in a cryonic chamber for a thousand years...

Personally, I find it really hard to believe that DC would let Giffen use pre-New 52 characters in Justice League 3000, especially the Blue Beetle. But I think I'd like it if they did.

Mid-Life Crisis

Enthusiastic crowd! Here's hoping that most of you aren't wrong.

Last week's poll question: What do you think Dan DiDio was teasing about DC's plans for Booster Gold? (62 votes)

What do you think Dan DiDio was teasing about DC's plans for Booster Gold?

Joss recently joined the Boosterrific Forum (hello, Joss!), and he immediately asked me the tough question: How old is Booster Gold? That's a hard question to answer.

Booster was in his mid-twenties when he debuted in Booster Gold volume 1, and was revealed to be in his mid-thirties in later issues of Booster Gold volume 2, but that was before he was infected with a disease that made his functionally immortal. Of course, the New 52 reset everything, making the entire DC Universe, and presumably Booster Gold, considerably younger, although Booster seemed to survive Flashpoint unaltered. Where does all that leave Booster Gold?

Something to Get Excited About?

I don't think a lack of Booster Gold cosplayers is in and of itself a problem, but when no one cares enough to dress like Booster Gold it seems to me that the fans are starting to move on to other things. Given how DC has underused The Greatest Character In History for the past 2+ years, maybe they should.

Last week's poll question: Does the lack of Booster Gold cosplayers at Comic-Con signify a bigger problem for Booster Gold fandom? (46 votes)

Does the lack of Booster Gold cosplayers at Comic-Con signify a bigger problem for Booster Gold fandom?

I often feel that I'm letting Booster Gold fans down when I don't gush with enthusiasm over teases like Dan DiDio's DC All Access announcement. Naturally, I'm not the sort of person who who gets excited about such things (especially when they come from someone with DiDio's track record of intentionally misleading statements), but that doesn't necessarily mean that you shouldn't. Hope and enthusiasm are good things. So I ask you, the fans, what was your reaction to DiDio's tease?

"So with the Five Year Later jump in September, There's one book that's a clue book, there's one book that sets it all up, and it's the one book that gives us a glimpse of what's about to come in. ... I'm not saying it's Booster Gold, but it'd be great if it was Booster Gold."
