New Release: Generation Lost #22

Justice League: Generation Lost #22 is scheduled to hit stands today, with Power Girl, Batman, and one other "former-JLI member" joining the fight against Max Lord. This aspect of the story is covered in Vaneta Rogers' interview with Judd Winick over at Newsarama.com (part 1 and part 2). (It's a worthwhile read, but tread carefully, readers, there may be some spoiler-ish material over there.) Buy this issue and make Skeets happy.

New Releases: Booster Gold & Generation Lost

Booster Gold #42 and Justice League: Generation Lost #21 are scheduled to hit stands today. February may be the shortest month, but that doesn't explain why we are getting a new issue of Booster Gold only 3 weeks since the last issue -- not that I'm complaining! Buy them both and make Skeets happy.

The Strange Family History of Maxwell Lord

Readers were introduced to Maxwell Lord's father as part of a retelling of Max's history in last week's issue of Justice League: Generation Lost #20. Also in the issue were scenes featuring Maxwell Lord's mother. While the story was well written and very enjoyable, a few problems become apparent when this new story is compared with earlier tales of Maxwell Lord's family. Namely, both of Max Lord's parents previously had different names. Max's mother -- named Naomi, not Rebecca -- even appeared in an issue of Booster Gold published as recently as November!

Now these little discrepancies can be explained away by a thoughtful writer, but they add to a troubling list of continuity inconsistencies surrounding Justice League: Generation Lost. Is this series rewriting DC history as it goes? Should the continuity changes that it presents be ignored? Historically, continuity changes that last tend to be tied directly to the popularity of the continuity-changing issue/series. Therefore it is likely that the answer to these questions lies in the readers' hands: do we like and are we willing to accept the continuity changes of Generation Lost once this series is over? Only time will tell.

New Release: Generation Lost #19

Though the issue of Booster Gold originally scheduled for release today has been pushed back at least a week, Justice League: Generation Lost #19 will still ship on time. Also scheduled to ship today is the hardcover collection of the first 12 issues (1/2 of the total series), though of course you've already been buying these issues each week and making Skeets happy, haven't you?
