Cover Description: Wally Tortolini holds a royal flush in a poker game against the criminals, from left to right, Black Mass, Sonar, Quakemaster, Crowbar, Brainstorm, and Blackrock. In the background a waitress dressed as Wonder Woman stands before the silhouette of the cyborg Briareos Hectonchires, a character from Masamune Shirow's manga comic book Appleseed, whose English publishing rights were at the time owned by Eclipse comics. The character has never appeared in the DC Universe. Booster Gold and Blue Beetle appear only in the price box.
Brief Synopsis: Investigative reporter Wally Tortolini aids Sonar escape a bank robbery and is introduced to several of his criminal friends.
Booster Gold's role in this story:
Cameo (Booster Gold makes a minor appearance)
Costume Worn: MARK I power-suit
Issue Notes: Booster Gold does not appear anywhere within this issue. His image appears on the cover as a promotional ploy, which is especially odd as he has not been in the active roster of the Justice League for several issues, since quitting the team in Justice League America #37. This is the second time that Booster has appeared on the cover of a book without being involved in the story within.
This story has been reprinted in:
