iFanboy on Booster Gold on TV

Last month Gabe Roth described what he'd like to see from a Booster Gold television show for iFanboy.com. I think the show he describes is pretty much the show that all Booster Gold fans want to see.

My fear is that the good folks at the network will get in there and start meddling. Not hard to imagine a bunch of guys with no comic book experience balking at the idea of a show centered on a character who isn't overtly "good" or formulaically fighting for truth, justice and the American way. That's not the Booster I want to see. My wish list? I want to see the full Booster costume in all its yellow and blue glory. I want to see an unashamed exploration of reluctant hero with unquenchable thirst for the spotlight. And I definitely want to see Booster's floating robot sidekick Skeets play a prominent role. I'm imagining Skeets as KITT from Knight Rider for a new generation.

As you might guess, I'm a big K.I.T.T. fan myself. To think that we could have a shot at talking S.K.E.E.T.S. ("Security Keeper, Emancipated Electronic Talking Series"?) toys lining shelves at Wal-Mart one day. I wonder if David Hasselhoff would be interested in guest starring as the Linear Man?

Don't Panic

This time, I'm warning you in advance: beginning today and continuing for the next week, there will be server maintenance behind the scenes at Boosterrific.com. This will eventually result in a server relocation which will require some down time for the site. Hopefully, the outages will be brief and limited in number.

In the meantime, if you should come to Boosterrific.com and find that you cannot get your fix of Booster Gold, take a trip over to iFanboy.com and read Jeff Reid's summary of Booster's publication history.

Or perhaps you feel you are missing out on your Dan Jurgens news? Try clicking over to Comic Book Movie.com and read nailbiter111's interview with Dan Jurgens.

Sure neither site is Boosterrific.com, but we'll all just have to make due in these trying times.

What Did We Learn at Comic-Con?

Geeks of Doom tells us that DC finally announced the poorly-kept secret that Flashpoint #5 would be the official launch point for the DCnU. Time gets changed, and the new DC Universe spins out of it. Spoiler alert: Booster Gold fails at his job of protecting DC's existing continuity.

Major Spoilers reports that Booster Gold will be the official leader of the Justice League International, and that Batman will be an unofficial, secret team member. This would appear to make Batman the greatest hero that the United Nations has never heard of.

Bleeding Cool adds that Flashpoint Global Guardians' character Lady Godiva will be among the members of the Justice League International. However, blond Lady Godiva does not look like the woman on the cover of Justice League International #1. How many heroes will be on this team?

iFanboy tells us that the question of whether Booster Gold will know that he failed to save the time stream will be addressed in Booster Gold #47. If new Flashpoint characters are on his JLI team, I suspect he'll have a clue.

And according to Comic Book Resources, 'Jurgens said he enjoyed "doing Doomsday in a different way, and ending Doomsday in a different way."' I guess that means that this time Superman doesn't die.

EDIT 07/26/2011: After posting this, I realized that Lady Godiva is probably the same Godiva that was once a member of the Global Guardians. Oops. Sorry to doubt you, Booster. Maybe you do get the job done.

Dan Jurgens at iFanboy

Matt Adler's Vanishing Point interview with Dan Jurgens is up at iFanboy.com. WARNING: As I type this, Google is reporting iFanboy as a "reported attack site." I've never had problems of any sort with iFanboy, so I recklessly surfed my way in. You may choose to be more cautious. I don't think there's anything very revealing in the interview, though Jurgens does hint at some "historical" cameos and a tie-in to Flashpoint.

The Internet Loves Lists!

When a blogger has nothing else to do, he makes a list post. I don't know why, but I'm not going to fight nature on this. Instead, I'll make a list of lists that include Booster Gold.

  1. iFanboy.com presents a list of the 5 worst Giffen-era JLI fashion moments. All things being equal, Booster's 80s fashion was considerably better than his 90s fashion, which included bolo ties and cutoff sweatshirts. Ugh.
  2. egotvonline.com provides a list of 10 obscure DC movie-ready properties that should have been adapted prior to Jonah Hex. I love Elongated Man as much as any other Gingold drinker, but I'm not sure that America is quite ready for his wiggling nose.
  3. mytopdozen.com proposes the 12 best dc comics characters who can fly. Seriously. I include this list because its very existence makes me giggle. Thank you internet.
