This Day in History: Booster God

Once upon a time, Booster Gold appeared quite regularly in the annual crossover events uniting the DCU. For example, it was just 25 years ago today that Booster Gold appeared in a supporting role in Action Comics Annual #4.

Back then, Booster and other members of the Justice League International were on the scene to try and free Superman from the clutches of Eclipso. These days that job would go exclusively to Batman, because... well, Batman.

It might be interesting to note that Blue Beetle wasn't with the rest of the Justice League for this mission (he had gone missing in the JLA Annual the previous month). That is consistent with the approach to the character taken by the current Blue Beetle series.

According to writer Kieth Giffen in an interview with Vaneta Rogers for Newsarama.com, the modern "rebirth" incarnation of Ted Kord was never a member of any Justice League. But Giffen also says that the events of Justice League 3000 are in Blue Beetle's future. JL3k was openly stated to take place in the same continuity as the original Justice League International stories. So . . . I have no idea what all that means for the current status of Blue and Gold.

Congratulations, DC. I'm not even trying to make sense of your continuity anymore.

Continuity? What continuity? Pay no attention to our hundreds of stories or the man behind the curtain!

I'm going to go back to 1986 when comics made sense after Crisis. While there I will erase DiDio and Lee and a few others responsible for this borrible mess of a universe from the timeline. And Snyder, he has got to go just because of Watchmen.

Frankly, I never found WATCHMEN as irritating as SUCKER PUNCH, but whatever you can do to get Snyder removed from the DC movies would be appreciated.

hey, have you all noticed that The Web is a more successful version of Booster Gold? Just read the 10 books that hes in. I have been rereading books for 2009 or so.

"The Web", as in the Archie character? Or are you talking about someone else? Because The Web I knew of was nothing like Booster Gold, successful or otherwise.

Yeah. I don't quite get the current DC continuity either. But I'm more confused about Marvel's continuity right now, ever since their thing that was named after Secret Wars but was more like Crisis On Infinite Earths. I have no clue about Marvel, but I have guesses about DC. I'm guessing that Blue Beetle takes place in the main continuity but Justice League 3000 takes place in a new one that resembles the '90s continuity. I'm trying to figure out if "Bug!" is in continuity. I discovered the second issue last week, and I'm really happy to see the Golden Age BB and Sandman in it. I think DC's trying to fix its mistakes from Flashpoint while trying to satisfy its new post-Post Flashpoint fans. This is a tricky balance that involves a lot of changes, and comics continuity has always been in flux. There wasn't much continuity in the Silver Age. I hope that DC makes a tight continuity a priority after DC figures out what versions of its characters will be most successful, not before.

yeah the web owned by d.c now. like booster he drinks sun dollar coffee. he sold out hes technology for profit but unlike booster hes rich, also like booster he was fixed by flash point. p.s so sorry it took me so long to respond
