Missing the Target
Almost exactly three months ago, I pointed out that Target.com had a listing for a 12-inch Booster Gold figure and urged everyone to keep their fingers crossed that we would one day have such a fine toy. It doesn't look like that was enough.
The product has disappeared entirely from their online stores.
The figure was part of the 12" Justice League Action figures (presumably made by Mattel, which also released the 12-inch Batman Unlimited line in the same style and scale). You can find plenty of JLAction Supermans, Batmans, Flashes, and Jokers on eBay, but there's zero evidence that Booster Gold was released in any quantities anywhere. Neither was a Booster Gold figure was included in the "Justice League Action Mighty Minis" inaugural line released earlier this year.
It's starting to feel like there's some sort of conspiracy against Booster Gold. You'll recall that DC Collectibles quietly cancelled their own announced Booster Gold/Blue Beetle figures earlier this year. And, of course, there's his continued absence from comics.
It's enough to make a fan believe that someone has it out for our hero.
UPDATE 01-04-2018: This figure is now available. I ordered mine from Amazon.com.

Old Old Release: Adventures of Superman 458
My friend Michael Foster is always on the lookout for Boosterrific appearances that aren't on this site. Usually, I'm a step ahead of him, but yesterday, he struck gold.
Check out these panels from 1989's The Adventures of Superman #458:
Not only is that an issue I didn't have, it's also a product endorsement I was previously unaware of. (Apparently, I've been using the wrong deodorant for years!)
Way to go, Mike. Thanks for helping make the Internet's number one Booster Gold reference site more complete than ever.

Finger Guns for Guys and Girls
HeroesCon 2017 was two weeks ago in Charlotte, North Carolina. Booster Gold has traditionally been well represented by cosplayers there, and this year was no exception.
Shag of the Fire and Water Podcast Network spotted these two at Heroes Con this year and posted this pic to Twitter. Jay Tallsquall also played Booster at last year's con, but his Justice League International teammate Gypsy is a welcome addition to the party.
Elsewhere, Jeffrey Lyles of LylesMovieFiles.com, uploaded his photos from April's Awesome Con in Washington, D.C. where he spotted this female Booster Gold cosplayer.
It's so heartwarming to see Booster still getting the love at conventions despite the character's continued absence from the limelight. You cosplayers are definitely Boosterrific.

Ever-Loving Gold-Eyed Thing
The king of Booster Gold journalism, Russ Burlingame, recently changed his Twitter profile picture from his face to something more Boosterrific. When I asked him about it, he was kind enough to direct me to the original. Behold this Thing!
This Joel Carroll drawing of Benjamin Grimm and H.E.R.B.I.E. (both of Fantastic Four fame) cosplaying as Booster Gold and Skeets — complete with Kirby Krackleâ„¢! — was a commission for Burlingame from his friend.
What else can I say? Russ has some great friends!
You can see more of Joel Carroll's work at JoelCarroll.com .

Booster Gold Comics Coming. Kind Of
DC's latest round of solicitations have been revealed, and believe it or not, we'll be getting two comics with Booster Gold in them! The catch is that they're both reprints.
WONDER WOMAN AND THE JUSTICE LEAGUE OF AMERICA BOOK TWO TP
Written by DAN VADO
Art by KEVIN WEST, KEN BRANCH, MARC CAMPOS and others
In these 1990s tales, Wonder Woman takes over as leader of the Justice League of America, whether members like Green Lantern Guy Gardner, Booster Gold or Blue Beetle like it or not. After a final battle with her brother, Ice decides that her destiny lies with the Justice League! Plus, a cult that worships an alien intelligence must stop the team from discovering their dark aims—at any cost! And then, it's judgment day as the Overmaster returns...and the U.N. sanctioned Leaguebusters are taking Overmaster's side in this battle! Collects JUSTICE LEAGUE INTERNATIONAL #65-66, JUSTICE LEAGUE AMERICA #86-91 and JUSTICE LEAGUE TASK FORCE #13-14.
On sale OCTOBER 4 • $24.99 US
Heads up, those of you who came on board during the Geoff Johns years. In the Justice League International collected here, Booster Gold dies! (No, I'm not exaggerating.)
INJUSTICE 2 VOL. 1 HC
Written by TOM TAYLOR
Art by BRUNO REDONDO, JUAN ALBARRAN, DANIEL SAMPERE and others
Cover by JIM LEE and SCOTT WILLIAMS
Tom Taylor continues his hit series Injustice: Gods Among Us story as Superman is imprisoned, and it's up to Batman to put the world back together. But with Superman's iron-fisted regime eliminated, other forces rise up to fill the void. And Batman doesn't have a lot of allies left to help stop them. But when Harley Quinn has an encounter with Amanda Waller, the new Suicide Squad ends up breaking into the Pentagon. Featuring appearances by Harley Quinn, Superman, Damian and many more. Collects INJUSTICE 2 #1-6.
On sale OCTOBER 25 • $24.99 US
As you can see, this hardcover will collect Booster's appearance in Injustice 2 #5, which hasn't even been released yet! How much longer until comics go straight from digital releases to hardcover collections with no floppies in between?
(By the way, this is probably an opportune time for me to comment on the rumor that seems to be winding its way across the internet — starting at i09.com — that Booster and Beetle have a romantic relationship in Injustice 2. If they do, that's fine, but there's nothing in the text that explicitly indicates it. To my eye, the pair appear to just be good friends, but others seem to believe that two grown men can't care deeply for one another unless they are kissing. Your interpretation of their relationship is up to you.)
In addition to these reprint collections, Blue Beetle #13 looks to be returning to the Justice League 3000 universe. Perhaps we'll be getting new Booster Gold adventures there soon, too. We'll see how that turns out in November.
