Is That Made of Real Gold?
Herbert Fung emailed me a few weeks back with this cosplay pic he snapped at Calgary Comics & Entertainment Expo 2014 in April:
Thank you, Herbert. I still say the colors in that costume are more vibrant than in a comic book! (Check out those airbrushed abs!)
In related news, today is opening day of DragonCon in Atlanta, GA. There's always plenty of DC cosplayers at DragonCon, so here's fingers crossed that we'll see more Booster Gold cosplay pics maybe as soon as Tuesday. (Reminder: Monday is Labor Day, so no post.)

Look at Me!
Booster Gold fans showing Dan Jurgens the love!
Last week's poll question: Which writer(s) do you feel has had the most influence on the development of Booster Gold? (66 votes)
Remember that earlier in the week, I quoted Jurgens comparing Booster Gold to Kim Kardashian? Good thing or bad thing?

Sounds Like a Good Idea
In his "Countdown" article last week, Newsarama contributor Rob McMonigal suggested a variety of mostly familiar concepts for DC to relaunch following Futures End. One of those was Booster Gold.
When DC revealed their September
Futures End event one-shots, it didn't go unnoticed that Booster Gold was the character featured in a solo one-shot that didn't have their own solo series prior to September.Of course, now both October and November solicitations have come and gone, and still nothing.
Time travel seems to be en vogue (at both major publishers) at the moment, so DC's resident guy-from-the-future might have found his moment.
We sure hope so.
You can see the other titles in the Countdown at Newsarama.com.

I Guess Booster Gold Should Make a Sex Tape
Dan Jurgens spoke to Comic Book Resources's Jonah Weiland at Comic-Con, and naturally Booster Gold came up.
Jonah Weiland: You're one of the few creators that comes back to a character they created for a company time and time and time again. Talk about your relationship with Booster Gold. (I know that sounds a little weird, but there is a real relationship you have with that character.)
Dan Jurgens:...I always explain it this way: whereas there's a plane coming down out of the sky, Superman flies up and catches it, lands it safely in Metropolis Park. Booster calls the media, says, "I'm going to go do, film this." He tries to catch it, he can't, the thing drives him down, and at the very last minute he makes it. He saves it, but with a rocky landing and he's just... you know, he has human faults that way. He's not perfect and he's trying to atone for his past. I'm attracted to that as a character... that he is a non-perfect human being. So, yeah, I like going back to that from time to time and DC has been kind enough to let me.
Weiland: In a way, it seems like Booster Gold makes more sense today than he did even back then.
Jurgens: What we were beginning to see back in the mid-80s was much more the emergence of the celebrity culture.... We had always had like athletes on a Wheaties box before, but the concept of people signing endorsement contracts even before they were named MVP or whatever was a bit different then.... You're right, it's built up to the point where Booster should be Kim Kardashian to a certain extent in the way he handles things.
You can find the rest of the interview (a little more about Booster but lots of reminiscing about the "Death of Superman" and Jurgens' career and longevity) at ComicBookResources.com.

Less Is More
I don't want to strain my ISP (after my hardware failures last week, I got caught up in Charter Communications DNS fiasco this weekend), so let's start the week with some simple Booster Gold fan art.
I've often (and loudly) complained about Booster's hideous New 52 uniform, but artist Benjaminjuan actually makes it not so bad by removing all the unnecessary ornamentation that I so despise. It still needs yellow boots, but I could learn to live with this.
You can find more of Benjaminjuan's DCAU-inspired designs on DeviantArt.com.
