I Prefer My Heroes to Wear Gold Pants

We've talked about it in the Boosterrific Blog comments and on the Boosterrific Forum. So I might as well put it here, too.

© DC Comics

Yes, that's Booster Gold making his entrance in All-Star Western #28. And yes, other than the gauntlets and the bicep stripes (which do not appear in any other panel in the issue), he is clearly wearing his pre-Flashpoint costume.

The debate we're having is whether this was an accident on the part of artist Fabrizio Fiorentino, or if this was an intentional change to Booster's costume authorized by DC Editorial. I don't have the answer. What do you think?

So How Much Is Enough?

The New 52 Justice League International wasn't very good, but you still prefer that to a year without Booster Gold?

Last week's poll question: If DC can't or won't put Booster Gold in his own title, which is the next best option? (59 votes)

If DC can't or won't put Booster Gold in his own title, which is the next best option?

Booster got a whole three pages of Jonah Hex's comic this week. Was that enough to encourage you to buy it?

New Release: All-Star Western #28

The last time I ran one of these "New Release" warnings was over two months ago. It's good to have Booster Gold back in print, even in a small part in today's All-Star Western #28.

You can catch a preview of the issue over at Ain't It Cool News, but to see Booster Gold, you'll have to go to Comixology or your Local Comic Shop.

Buy this issue if you ever want to see Skeets again!

It's about Time

Tomorrow, Booster Gold is promised to return to the DCnU in All-Star Western #28. This will end the Booster Gold drought at 244 days. To put that in perspective: the 3 longest stretches without Booster Gold appearing in a DCU-continuity book:

  1. 336 days between Superman #124 and Chase #4 (Apr. 1997 to Mar. 1998)
  2. 302 days between Martian Manhunter #24 and JLA: Our Worlds At War (Sept. 2000 to July 2001)
  3. 244 days between All Star Western #21 and All Star Western #28 (June 2013 to February 2014)

Where will Booster appear next? Who knows. The counter resets tomorrow, but we really need to get our hero in books more often than once a year!

Pride and Prejudice and Dinosaurs

I've been meaning to post this for the better part of a month. I'm not sure why it's taken me so long. It's not like there's any big Booster Gold news getting in the way.

taShepard doodles Booster Gold

That's TA Shepard's doodle of Booster Gold beating up on the Ultra-Humanite with an assist from a velociraptor (and a paraphrase of the opening line of Pride and Prejudice). In other words, it is pretty much everything that is awesome about super-hero comic books.

You can find bigger images of Shepard's doodles at tashepard.tumblr.com.
