Enjoy Labor Day at DragonCon 2013
Time for a long Labor Day weekend. Long Labor Day weekends mean time for DragonCon. And DragonCon means time for Booster Gold cosplayers!
That's a television-inspired Booster Gold from DragonCon 2011. (Flickr.com picture by mchulin. The cosplayer is Thomdave.)

What will DragonCon 2013 bring?

I Don't Like the Sound of Them Apples, Will
If it was good enough for Joe Namath, it ought to be good enough for Booster Gold.
Last week's poll question: What kind of endorsement opportunity would Booster Gold be most likely to decline? (39 votes)
Today's poll question was requested last week by Lee. I'm still pretending I have no idea what inspired it.

Play as Booster Gold in Heroes Unite
In the Boosterrific Forum last week, CDN updated us that there were new developments online about the DC Deck-Building Game expansion Heroes Unite. (The game was previously mentioned on January 28 and June 24.)
Thanks to the website of the game's publisher, cryptozoic.com, we now know that Booster Gold will be a playable character!
- Play as Shazam!, Hawkman, Red Tornado, Nightwing, Black Canary, Batgirl, or Booster Gold.
- Each Super Hero has a unique special ability that will open up different strategies to the player. Follow that strategy or break away with a plan of your own!
- Card combos, strategy, and fun abound in this game where every card is a well-known, fan-favorite card with amazing art. This is a standalone game, but also an expansion to the hit DC Comics Deck-building Game released in late 2012. Mix the two sets together for the ultimate showdown!
- Easy to learn, entertaining and engaging gameplay.
CDN points out that while RB Silva's art was used for the box, previously existing art appear to have been used for the cards themselves. "Even the games want Booster back in his preNu costume," he adds. For example, the Kevin Maguire alternate cover to Justice League: Generation Lost can be seen on the "Booster Gold" card. If pre-Flashpoint art was used, does that mean we'll be seeing Skeets? (IhopeIhopeIhope.)
Cryptozoic plans a fourth quarter 2013 release, so the game should be available for Christmas. I know what I want to see under my tree this year!

Cutting In
Booster booster Pat Nestor shares with us his Booster Gold commission by Georges Jeanty, the artist who will be drawing Joker's Daughter in Batman: The Dark Knight #23.4 next month.
Pat commissioned the piece from Jeanty at Wizard World Chicago in 1999. At the time, Pat was promoting a comic that he had written called The Gecko. This just proves that for years now, whenver comic book creators get together, they talk about Booster Gold!
Thanks for sharing, Pat.

Breaking News: Booster Gold Still Not Canadian
Friday the Canadian newspaper The Star broke the news that Jeff Lemire would be taking over Justice League of America when the team moves to Canada.
That news inspired Booster Gold fans everywhere to ask, "if Booster Gold is really Canadian in the DCnU, will he be joining the team?" The answer is no. (And not just because Booster isn't Canadian.)
Jeffrey Renaud of ComicBookResources.com put the question directly to Jeff Lemire:
CBR: I think the only other Canadian character that's been introduced into the New 52 is Booster Gold. Again, I know you are sworn to secrecy on the roster but does Booster play a role in your book?
Lemire: No plans for Booster. I wish I could talk about my roster because it's my dream team -- a couple of other cosmic characters and some current, fairly major characters will be part of the team.
Geez. Booster can't catch a break, can he?
For the record, still no evidence has ever been introduced in canon to contradict Booster Gold's American citizenship as established in Booster Gold Volume 1. Even ComicBookResources.com admitted as much in their countdown of the Top 10 Canadian Heroes. Given that Booster has made exactly 3 comic appearances in the past year and has nothing on the horizon, it doesn't look like there will be any change to that status in the foreseeable future.
Read the rest of the interview with Lemire here. Thanks to Herbert Fung for being the first to email me on vacation and tell me about this breaking story.
