Silver and Gold Now on iTunes

If you're looking for something to do between football games today, consider spending some time listening to the "Silver and Gold Podcast," now on iTunes and Stitcher! They're making it so easy to listen, you're running out of excuses not to.

Her Favorite Hero Is Booster Gold

This past weekend, blogger Elyse of Cuddly As A Cactus explained why Booster Gold is her favorite super hero. (The girl's got good taste.) She has several reasons, not the least of which is the fact that our hero has that rarest of assets in modern comics: a sense of humor.

You may think it's a recent fad, but the trend towards the grim and gritty and serious within comics is nothing new. In an era of over-manliness (lookin' at you, late 80's and early 90's), Booster was different! It's a character that dared to kinda silly. He's always getting himself in trouble and getting into shenanigans. That's the kind of stuff that I'm interested in!

I'm sure she's not the only one who feels that way. You can read her other reasons (and spot check her recommended reading list) at cuddlyasacactus.wordpress.com.

Does Anyone Know What Chibi Means?

We may not have seen Booster in 135 days and counting, but rest assured he's still his boisterous, charming self.

Chibi Booster Gold by Beau Schemery

That super deformed Booster Gold was uploaded to DeviantArt.com six years ago by artist Beau Schemery (aka hedbonstudios), but that doesn't make it any less endearing. In addition to his gallery at DeviantArt.com, you can find more of Shemery's art on his blog at beauschemery.wordpress.com.

Always There When You Need Him

The Boosterrific Forum will be closed until further notice to conserve bandwidth. I'm having problems with leeching from spambots that I will have to solve before it costs me any more money. I'm hoping that since no one has posted in the Forum for over 2 weeks and no Booster Gold comics are being published anymore, this shutdown won't pose too much of a problem for anyone.

For those of you who don't know how the internet works, this website is allotted a fixed data transfer amount per month. This is measured by the amount of data sent between the web server and the computer you are reading this on. Right now, I'm throwing away bandwidth to automated spam scripts that aren't using my data in any positive way. Since the host of Boosterrific.com is monitoring and charging me for that bandwidth usage, I have to find a way to stop or reduce the waste. The Forum will remain shut down until I code an effective solution for the problem (timetable unknown). Sorry.

To distract you from that unhappy news, I present to you with no commercial interruptions "Time Traveling Hero", a poem by Alex Tisdale.

In bright fettered darkness;
If ever you need me...
Lost deep in the timestream—
That is where I will be.
Past, present, and future—
There is so much to see!
But I must keep going,
To maintain that you're free.

You can find more of writer/illustrator Tisdale's work on his Wordpress or his Tumblr blogs.

Happy Birthday to Chris Sprouse

Without Chris Sprouse, we might still have had Booster Gold in his black leather jacket as the leader of the Conglomerate, but he wouldn't have looked nearly as cool.

© DC Comics

Justice League Quarterly #1 in 1990 was among Sprouse's earliest works for DC Comics, but by no means was it the last. While it may seem that Sprouse has gone underutilized since the DC reboot, his legion of fans will be pleased to know that he recently hinted on his website, SprouseNet, that he will soon be returning to a Tom Strong mini-series. That's good birthday news, indeed.
