He's Awesome

One bit of Booster Gold movie-related news seemed to get people really excited this week. Several sources called my attention to this interview promoting the upcoming the direct-to-video The Marine 5: Battleground at Uproxx.com:

Bill Hancock: I know you love being the Marine, you love playing this character. If WWE Studios came to you and said, "You can do whatever you want to do with a movie," what would be your dream project?

The Miz: My dream project? I mean, I think anyone's dream project right now is how amazing the Marvel/DC comic book era is really coming together and really blowing up the scene. Anytime you have a movie, it's breaking records, it's doing great things, so obviously I'd want a Marvel character.

Obviously, Deadpool is already taken and Ryan Reynolds did an absolutely fantastic job. That was always my dream role ever since I saw the video game seven years ago, I was like "Oh my god, I want to play this guy!" But, Ryan Reynolds took it and knocked it out of the park and did an absolutely incredible job, so I can't fault him at all. But I think anyone would want to do Marvel or DC, maybe WWE can combine with them and do something, but you never know.

BH: So if Deadpool's taken, do you have a top comic book character that you'd like to play?

Miz: Yeah, I mean a lot of the main ones are kind of taken. I've always wanted to play Booster Gold. Do you know who he is?

BH: Yeah, I know who Booster Gold is.

Miz: So that would be pretty fun.

BH: That would be perfect for you.

Miz: Haha, thanks.

While I am pleased that there are actors out there who know who Booster Gold is and are eager to play him, I think it goes without saying that anyone would want to play Booster Gold if they knew who he was. It's the role of a lifetime! Whoever is ultimately cast had better clear a space on his mantle shelf for his inevitable Best Actor Oscar.

I have to admit that I have no idea if The Miz would be "perfect" in the role. Honestly, I have no idea who The Miz is. (Sorry. I'm old. I stopped paying attention to wrestling when Andre the Giant died, and both John Cena and I decided one Marine was enough for us.) But judging by my mailbox and the speed with which this interview shot around the Internet, the man obviously has a bucket full of fans who are quite giddy with anticipation at the possibility.

The DC Version of Deadpool

Last week, Dan Seitz wrote on Uproxx.com that the DC movie universe needed more levity in the style of Marvel Comic's Deadpool. His solution? More Booster Gold.

That's what's great about Booster; he's funny and he often reflects our shallower instincts, but he's also a reflection of our ability to set aside the day-to-day B.S. and petty selfish desires when we need to. The fundamental issue DC has always faced is that their characters are essentially Gods walking the Earth. Booster's ultimately one of us, a flawed human being, and we could use more of those on-screen in superhero movies, especially if they come with smart-ass remarks.

Seems to me that we already have plenty of flawed human beings in super hero movies as it is, but we can always use more Booster Gold and smart-ass remarks. (Though these days, I suspect that the only reason Warner Brothers would put Booster in a movie would be to kill him off and give Batman one more reason to be angsty.)

New 52 Skeets Looks Like Batman

I usually save previews for Wednesdays, but I thought since we've been in a bit of a Booster Gold drought since Convergence, I'd go ahead and post a link to Uproxx.com's preview of this week's Bat-Mite #4.

© DC Comics

I'm sure it's not my imagination that Skeets is starting to look like a golden, robotic Batman. Though, to be fair, this is a "Batman Family" title. Loosely.

Bat-Mite #4 will be released this Wednesday.

Dressing Up for New York Comic Con 2012

I know you were waiting for cosplay pics from last week's New York Comic Con 2012. So here they are.

This picture was found at Kotaku.com. A man, his machine... It looks like there's love in the air. (Yes, we did meet this fellow earlier this year.)

The second picture of Bare Midriff Booster, Mister Miracle, Dr. Fate, and Bare Midriff Beetle comes by way of Uproxx.com (which credits its pic to by Steven Leung at Flickr.com). As much as I love seeing Mister Miracle, something about that mask is really giving me the creeps. But I love Booster's purse!
