Starting Over

Latest awesome thing spotted over the weekend on Twitter.com:

35 years ago #BoosterGold arrived from the future to be part of #dccomics's pantheon. Here's our remake of his debut cover. -- @MarianoPNavarro Twitter.com 2021-12-11

This reimagining of the original Booster Gold #1 cover is by Mariano Navarro & Hernan Cabrera. I'm not going to say that I think it's better than the original, but I will say that I *would* buy that comic book.

Just Two of the Guys

Another thing spotted this week on Twitter:

Attention Heroes and Villains, we need your help! Can you identify these two mysterious DC characters who will be joining in the fight against extinction? -- @DCHVGame Twitter.com Nov 29, 2021

I'd say that was supposed to be Booster Gold, Skeets, Jaime Reyes, and Khaji Da (together known as the Blue Beetle), but the tweet explicitly says there are only two "characters" there, so I must be wrong.

Looking at dcheroesandvillains.com, I see that DC Heroes & Villains is a puzzle RPG game (like Puzzle Quest?) being created by JamCity and Ludia for mobile devices that will be released... sometime in the future. Cool. That means I haven't missed anything yet.

I'll have to start paying attention to its progress. Maybe one of these days, they'll finally tell me who those two guys are.

Thanks to Logan Peterson for alerting me that this might interest Booster boosters.

Big Jon

For those of you who do not follow Boosterrific on Twitter, you need to see this:

It’s 23” of pure awesomeness - and let’s be honest DC Comics is never making a Booster statue this big. -- Twitter.com @theblotsays November 24, 2021

Isn't that impressive? And nearly two feet tall! (Blot says 1/4 scale, but Booster is 6' 5" tall. So it's really closer to 1/3 scale.)

As Blot makes clear, this is technically an unauthorized bootleg statue, and it will not be available on the open market. Boosterrific as this piece is, it is not something the average Booster booster is likely to get our hands on. Drat!

But we can always look.

Thanks for sharing, Blot!

Candy for the Eyes

I really could use a good start to my week this week, so let's look at some professionally-made Booster Gold fan art to get us in the right mood!

First is a piece that Kevin Maguire created and sold for $500 on gumroad.com:

Beetle and Booster by Kevin Maguire

And second is this one posted by Mike McKone to Twitter.com:

Booster Gold by Mike McKone

Oh, yeah. I'm feeling it now. Maybe this week will be better than just good. Thanks, Booster!

Kickin' It with Cort

Take heart, Booster boosters! Cort Carpenter has filled the gap of new Booster Gold art this week by sharing with us his latest sketchbook commissions.

By my count, Cort has now shared with us more than 67 pieces of commissioned Booster Gold art (many of which you can see larger on Cort's Twitter and imgur accounts). I don't know how he affords them all. Maybe he's a secret billionaire. All the best superheroes are, you know.

In his email, Cort teased the possibility that he may have as many as five new commissions to share with us before the end of the year. I think you'll agree that gives all Booster boosters something to look forward to.

Thanks, Cort!
