New Heroes of the Millennium

As reported by The Blot on Twitter, that the Bryan Hitch alternate cover to Brian Michael Bendis' upcoming Legion of Super-Heroes: Millennium mini-series has been revealed, and it prominently features the Man of Gold.

Per colorist Alex Sinclair's Instagram:

This isn't a single cover, by the way. When Bendis originally released the black and white inks (in *his* Instagram), he made it clear that this wasn't the cover to one book but two!

EXCLUSIVE! I was just sent the variant cover art for Millennium #1-2, which interconnect, by Bryan Hitch. @dccomics #dcnation #legionofsuperheroes #legionofsuperheroesmillenium #supergirl #boostergold #batmanbeyond #omac #kamandi #notmessingaround #preorder #longlivethelegion

Looked at that way, Booster will be front and center on the cover of issue two. Yes, please!

Thanks, Blot. I'll be standing in line outside my LCS when Legion of Super-Heroes: Millennium #2 is released on October 2.

Legion of Gold

DC waited until Comic Con was over to release their October solicitations. There's not much Booster Gold to be seen except for Booster's previously announced gust-starring Legion of Super-Heroes appearance.

LEGION OF SUPER-HEROES: MILLENNIUM #2
written by BRIAN MICHAEL BENDIS
art by NICOLA SCOTT, JIM CHEUNG, JEFF DEKAL and RYAN SOOK
cover by RYAN SOOK
card stock variant cover by BRYAN HITCH
Get on board for a journey through the future like no other! A gallery of all-star artists join our mysterious guide as they continue their 1,000-year journey toward the 31st century, inspiring Booster Gold to time-travel, debating fighting tactics with O.M.A.C. and making their way to the front door of the Legion of Super-Heroes. The DC event of the future is here now!
On sale 10/2/19; 48 pages; $4.99 (card stock variant cover $5.99)

It's unclear what the alternate cover will be, but Booster doesn't appear on Ryan Sook's solicited cover. (It's a nice cover, about as good as covers without Booster Gold get.)

We already got a good look at some of Nicola Scott's interior art back in June, art that demonstrates Booster will be joined by some old friends.

It's certainly something to look forward to.

Convergence Booster Gold Solicitation Part 2

The solicitation for month two of the Convergence tie-in titles was released last week.

© DC Comics

CONVERGENCE: BOOSTER GOLD #2
Written by DAN JURGENS
Art by ALVARO MARTINEZ and RAUL FERNANDEZ
Cover by DAN JURGENS and DANNY MIKI
Variant cover designed by CHIP KIDD
On sale MAY 27 • $3.99 US

STARRING HEROES FROM CRISIS ON INFINITE EARTHS! Booster Golds...Time Masters...is it possible that the combined might of these heroes can put an end to the Convergence battles?

Note that the cover to this issue includes the pre-Crisis Superboy and the Legion of Super-Heroes. As all DC fans know, the original incarnation of Superboy was erased from the DC Universe during Crisis on Infinite Earths.

Why is that significant? Two reasons: one, according to DC editor Mark Waid in Secret Origins #35, Dan Jurgens' originally intended origin for Booster Gold had our hero in possession of the Legion Flight Ring of the pre-Crisis Superboy, the very same ring you can see on Superboy's right hand on this cover!

And two, this issue gives Booster the opportunity to interact with a character completely off-limits for his entire 30-year career. That sounds like exactly the sort of pairing that fans should want in a two-month event celebrating Crisis on Infinite Earths.

You can see a larger image accompanying the solicitation for this issue at ToplessRobot.com.

This Day in History: Booster Gold Origins

Five years ago today, DC Comics released Legion of Super-Heroes in the 31st Century #19. This is noteworthy to Booster Gold fans, as it included an inventive re-imagining of Booster Gold's origin (making him a time thief similar to Chronos).

© DC Comics

The comic was based on the television show of a similar (but shorter) name in which Booster never appeared (although he was alluded to in the show's opening episode).

If you passed on this or any of Booster's other great appearances in the animated DC Universe Justice League Unlimited because they were out of continuity, consider tracking them down now at your Local Comic Shop or online. Old Booster Gold beats no Booster Gold any day of the week!

New Releases: Legion Lost #5

Eagle-eyed, longtime Booster booster Shawn Baston notes that Booster Gold and the Justice League International appear in today's Legion Lost #5 reacting to a global plague. Unfortunately, it seems that the JLI's skill set isn't the best method for dealing with heart attacks:

Buying this issue won't make Skeets happy, but it could teach you how not to treat heart attack victims.
