Quiet, Please: Internet at Work

If Boosterrific.com isn't comprehensive enough for your Booster Gold needs, may I suggest a trip over to Cpedia.com, an "automated encyclopedia" billing itself as "The World's Biggest Search Engine." Cpedia surfs the web for you, building a composite article culled from sources around the web, including various wikis, blogs, and message boards. It's a great idea, but it's still a little rough around the edges. For example, the following paragraphs were taken exactly as they appear at Cpedia.com/wiki?q=Booster+Gold.

Created by Dan Jurgens, a writer/artist with a clean line who's probably best-known for killing off Superman, Booster was a frustrated ex-football player from the 25th century who came back to our time to become the hero he always imagined himself. [25.8] The witty dialogue came fast and furious in this one, spotlighting exactly how humour is such an essential ingredient in a good Booster Gold comic. [25.9] Next up is his greatest challenge yet: preventing one of the most horrific wrongs that's ever befallen a hero in the DC Universe. [25.10]

As much as I like Booster Gold, I would not want to see him and Barbara Gordon get married, maybe date for awhile, but not married. [25.11]

Not surprisingly, much of the information on Cpedia about Booster's history was culled from Boosterrific.com. Not that I'm anything other than flattered. In fact, I've been parsing the Cpedia article to try and catch typos on this site! Thanks, internet!

The Internet Loves Lists!

When a blogger has nothing else to do, he makes a list post. I don't know why, but I'm not going to fight nature on this. Instead, I'll make a list of lists that include Booster Gold.

  1. iFanboy.com presents a list of the 5 worst Giffen-era JLI fashion moments. All things being equal, Booster's 80s fashion was considerably better than his 90s fashion, which included bolo ties and cutoff sweatshirts. Ugh.
  2. egotvonline.com provides a list of 10 obscure DC movie-ready properties that should have been adapted prior to Jonah Hex. I love Elongated Man as much as any other Gingold drinker, but I'm not sure that America is quite ready for his wiggling nose.
  3. mytopdozen.com proposes the 12 best dc comics characters who can fly. Seriously. I include this list because its very existence makes me giggle. Thank you internet.

Bars vs. Internet: Discuss

Once upon a time, people met in bars, got generally messed up, and passed the time taking sides in ridiculous and improbable arguments. This, in fact, is the entire foundation of the long-running television sitcom Cheers. Thankfully, the prevalence of the internet has brought those pointless conversations out of smoke-filled bars into the home and workplace. I present "Iron Man & War Machine vs. Blue Beetle & Booster Gold." Talk amongst yourselves.

Ego Booster

It's immature and lame and can be very NSFW, but I'm linking to Meme Generator's Ego Booster anyway, because I can't stop playing with it. So sue me.

To balance my kharma, Boosterrific has been updated to include the 1992-93 DC Comics AIDS PSAs. Thanks to Shawn Baston to pointing out this hole in Boosterrific's comprehensive Booster coverage, and thanks to PoliteDissent.com for pointing out the variations.
