I Don't Know If You're Meant to Read into It

Comic fans love a good Easter egg. There has been a lot of speculation why Rip Hunter's real name was revealed to be "Michael" on DC's Legends of Tomorrow. Is that a Booster Gold reference? Inquiring minds want to know!

Fast forward to the 2:48 mark in the video below to hear Andy Behbackht of TVOVermind.com put that question to Darvill himself at Comic Con.

Darvill's reaction to the question reminds me of William Shatner's response to the question "What was the combination?" on a rather in famous Saturday Night Live skit. That's what Comic Con is all about. Gotta love it.

Time Masters Are on His List

So Comic Con has taught us that we can look forward to seeing Booster Gold in action figures and cartoons. But what about the comics? Things might be looking up there, too.

ComicBookResources.com reported from the DC Rebirth: Superman panel where Action Comics writer Dan Jurgens had this to say:

"One of the great things about having a book coming out twice a month, you can explore corners you might not be able to in a monthly book," Jurgens said, as having "forty pages a month to play with" allows for more detours.

A fan asked what the Time Masters have been up to since "Convergence." "It's on my list of things to get to," [Jurgens] said. "The good thing about two books a month is you can get through a lot of material really quick."

Jurgens also expressed hope that he would get the chance to return Superman's red trunks. That sounds like a perfect excuse for a time travel story to me!

Animated Booster Gold Coming into Focus

We keep hearing that Booster Gold is going to be in the upcoming Justice League Action cartoon, but we haven't seen any pictures of the character design. That is, until now.

© DC Comics

This pic comes to us courtesy of The Blot, who's been busy hunting Booster Gold at Comic Con this week. (We're in your debt, Blot.) Booster is one of several characters, most of whom were previously revealed, on a Justice League Action wall display. Note that the design is clearly based on his pre-New 52 look. Thank the gods.

At the convention, DC also released a sizzle real including some of the DC Universe's more obscure characters like Dex-Starr, Vixen, and Space Cabbie, but still no Booster Gold in action. However, we did get another video featuring Diedrich Bader talking about his approach to the character. You'll find it starting at 2:09 below:

(Thanks to Morgenstern for that link.)

I was initially apprehensive when I heard that Bader, known far and wide as Lawrence in Office Space, would be Batman in Brave and the Bold, but he totally won me over with his deadpan delivery. As much as I'll miss Tom Everett Scott in the role, I'm excited to hear what Bader can bring to Booster this fall on Cartoon Network.

DC Icons Blue Beetle and Booster Gold Coming

There was a rumor that we'd see some new DC Comics action figures at San Diego Comic-Con International this week. Those rumors were true! Feast your eyes on these beautiful things:

© DC Comics

According to Jenna Busch at ComingSoon.com, this 2-pack of upcoming figures in the DC Icons line was unveiled at the DC Collectibles panel. The figures will come "with word balloons and alternate laughing heads." That sounds like a set of figures I'll have to own!

What other Booster Gold news might we hear before the weekend is over, I wonder?

(Special thanks to The Blot for alerting us that this reveal was coming.)

Booster Gold Television Series Is a Zombie

Mike Cecchini spoke to Legends of Tomorrow executive producer Phil Klemmer at Comic Con, and somehow he got this quote:

"[Andrew Kriesberg's Booster Gold television series]'s not dead, but it is not..." [Klemmer] caught himself. "I don't know. But it's not dead."

To recap: SyFy optioned a Booster Gold pilot from writer Andrew Kriesberg and Berlanti Production back in 2011. There was a lot of back-and-forth about the status of the script, no pilot was ever ordered, then news about the status of the teased series dried up as first Arrow then Flash took off on the CW Network.

So what does this new information mean? Go check out the full article at DenOfGeek.us and decide for yourself.
