Searching for Skeets

For some reason, I thought there'd be more consensus than this. As I've said before, that's why I'm never going to be a casting agent.

Last week's poll question: ( votes)

We haven't seen a lot of Skeets since the New 52 reboot, but Convergence may change that. That got me wondering how important Skeets was to Booster's fans.

The Fans Have Spoken

Tom Everett Scott's Booster Gold is going to be a pretty high bar for any future actors to hurdle.

Last week's poll question: ( votes)

After Kevin Maguire's recent fan casting, there's been some discussion in the Boosterrific Forum about who might play Booster when he returns to television (which as Russ Burlingame said at ComicBook.com earlier this week, may still happen in his own series).

UPDATE 2015-01-15: Tom Everett Scott appreciates his fans!

"@boosterrific: The Fans Have Spoken: @TomEScott is the best Booster Gold voice EVER bit.ly/1BwdU07" Thank you Booster Gold fans!!

You're welcome, Tom Everett Scott. (Now I wish I had a trophy to give him.)

Like Music to My Ears

Kids these days have it so easy. Back in my day, if you didn't walk uphill in the snow each week, you could miss out on an issue forever!

Last week's poll question: ( votes)

It's not easy putting words in Booster Gold's mouth. So who's done it the best?

While We're Talking about Actors

I frequently mention the actors and artists who have given Booster Gold a voice in comics and television. That's part of why this site exists. Therefore, I feel it's only fair that I recognize those who work behind the scenes to make that possible.

With that in mind, I direct you to Marc Alan Fishman's Comicmix.com article, "The Voice of an Entire Universe," about legendary DCU casting director Andrea Romano. Romano is responsible for Tom Everett Scott and Billy West in Justice League Unlimited's "The Greatest Story Never Told." That's some pretty good work.

Everybody's Talking About It

Booster Gold could be as bad an actor as Joe Montana, and I suspect that I would still watch him play a cadaver on CSI: New York.

Last week's poll question: If Booster Gold became an actor, what sorts of roles would you expect to find him cast in? (37 votes)

If Booster Gold became an actor, what sorts of roles would you expect to find him cast in?

Comic-Con International 2012 is underway in San Diego, and you can hear it all the way out here on the east coast. With the injection of Hollywood appeal, this event is now estimated to generate nearly $200 million for the city of San Diego this week alone. That's about the total gross profit of all domestic comics sold so far this year! Now that Comic-Con, once the mother of all comic book conventions, is a cross-media institution unto itself, how do you feel about its role as the modern geek Mecca?
