The Most Important Thing Happening in 2022

First things first: the "BLUE BEETLE & BOOSTER GOLD 2-PACK" teased by McFarlane Toys last weekend on Twitter is now available for pre-order on Amazon.com, EntertainmentEarth.com, BigBadToyStore.com, and McfarlaneToysStore.com.

Personally, I've authorized my Local Comic Shop to get me the figures whenever they can, so consider supporting your Local Toy Shop as an alternative (or in addition) to those websites.

Judging by the emails I've been getting, there was a lot of pent-up demand for more Blue and Gold action figures, which is good. Pre-order demand is necessary to see these figures to market. The last time DC solicited a Booster Gold/Blue Beetle figures in 2017, they canceled them citing lack of retailer interest. Let's not let that happen again.

For those of you who need to know a little more information about this toy before you buy it, McFarlane.com has the deets (and plenty of pictures):

McFarlane Toys DC Multiverse Blue Beetle and Booster Gold 2 Pack

Product Features:

  • Incredibly detailed 7" scale figure based off the DC Multiverse
  • Designed with Ultra Articulation with up to 22 moving parts for full range of posing and play
  • Blue Beetle and Booster Gold are featured in their looks from the comic Blue Beetle & Booster Gold: Blue and Gold
  • Blue Beetle and Booster Gold include a grapple launcher, a blast, a cellphone, a drone, and mechanical themed base
  • Included collectible art cards with figure artwork on the front, and character biography on the back
  • Collect all McFarlane Toys DC Multiverse Figures

Uh, I'm not sure that I'd call "Collect all McFarlane Toys DC Multiverse Figures" a "feature," but I suppose that's not really aimed at me. I gather from their other marketing, that whoever is writing McFarlane's ad copy doesn't actually read DC comic books, at least Booster Gold and Blue Beetle comics. That doesn't really bother me, as they are a toy company not a comics publisher, and they are pretty good at what they do.

You do you, McFarlane Toys; I'll just get my wallet out.

Might As Well Post This Now

Several people have just brought this to my attention, and I don't see much reason to wait until Monday:

I'll be keeping my eye out for that pre-order opportunity.

UPDATE 2022-07-27: Pre-order links are now available on McFarlane.com. I'll post more about this on Friday.

Gold with Envy

It's 3:46 in the morning, and I need to get to sleep, but I can't go to bed until I come up with something to post for you fine Booster boosters. Fortunately for everyone, The Blot has bailed me out with this recent very Boosterrific tweet:

Got some new acrylic risers and redesigned by #BoosterGold display. For the most part you can see things better but I'm not in love with how it turned out. I think I need to move the 6

I don't think you need to *move* the 6-inchers, Blot. I think you just need to get some more.

Thanks for the save. If you haven't seen his action figure designer art toy blog, check it out at theblotsays.com.

UPDATE 2022-04-29 3:30PM: As you've probably read elsewhere by now, legendary artist Neal Adams has died. He never drew Booster Gold in a comic book, and now he never will. But we can see what Booster would have looked like in his distinctive style thanks to a piece Blot commissioned from Adams and shared with us in 2014.

Booster Gold by Neal Adams for The Blot

Thanks for all the good comics, Neal.

Entertainment for the Eyes and the Ears

Propjosh dropped me a line to let me know he is preparing to unleash the final season of his long-running Blue and Gold fan series. Here's what he had to say about what you'll see when you visit his YouTube channel:

Without giving away too much, this season will be very closely related to the Booster Gold comics. Five years passed since Ted Kord was killed and Booster is trying to cope while working alongside Rip Hunter. There will definitely be some episodes straight from the comics. There will also be an episode where they will be completely animated with possibly a guest star.

Here's a link to my trailer for the season.

I will have new episodes every Saturday starting Sept 5th until the end of the year.

September 5? That's tomorrow! Finally something to watch other than the constant stream of political advertisements on my television. Thanks, Josh!

And if you're looking for something else to entertain you this long Labor Day weekend, know that Blue and Gold -- A Superman and Booster Gold Podcast released a new episode earlier this week. You can find it via blueandgoldpodcast.blogspot.com.

Youtube videos and podcasts? Sometimes the Internet is pretty great.

Blue and Gold and Gray

This week, I finally got my hands on the new Knight Models DC Universe Miniature Game: Multiverse Blue Beetle & Booster Gold two-pack figures, and they're pretty much as advertised.

Knight Models DC Universe Miniature Game Booster Gold

I ordered them from GameNerdz.com.

As you can see, the miniatures (34mm high) are sold unpainted and unassembled, so you'll need to do a little work to get them display (or play) ready. For example, my Beetle fit poorly in his stand, and my Booster had some residual resin flash that required cutting away with an xacto blade. (You can see the white line under his outstretched arm.) Your mileage may vary.

If I do ever get around to painting them — and they turn out well — I'll be sure to let you know how that goes. (The list of things I say I'm going to get around to only gets longer and longer. Sigh.)
