Why not simply wear a protective cod piece under the costume? Though I agree that TV often needs to modify the costume..though I guess most female heroes are off much worse than Booster

Tights are typically unflattering around the waist of people who don't have the legs of dancers. The solution is not to use tights, which is why Hollywood always uses leather or rubber pants. It's not like the producers are going to turn up any 25th-century microweave armor before they start filming.

I just can't understand why male cosplayers are unwilling to wear a cup, no one needs to see what you're sporting and I should think that any smart hero would wear one.

Although, depending on the material, costumes can still pretty faithful and yet look amazingly badass.

I liked the Smallville version, but Booster's series costume is likely to depend on the story format. I wouldn't expect to see him wearing his shiny gold trousers, not unless the show's title ends up being "Booster and the Solid Gold Dancers" ;>
