Apparrantly someone asked about the TV show at Wondercon during the DC Panel, sadly the answer was a non-answer:

"Q: A Gambit guy asks about the Booster Gold series in the works, or what other pitches they've made for other new series. DC Entertainment wants to grow all these franchises."

Then again, one might have to ask that question on a Scifi panel for any real chances for an answer.

Until SyFy says that they want to actually purchase a pilot for air, the only people who will REALLY have an answer to this question is the production company (Berlanti Productions). To this point, SyFy has requested only a script, and we will probably never know if that is going anywhere until Berlanti starts casting.

Of course, if Berlandi or writer Andrew Kreisberg need any details on Boosteroo for their hopefully-soon-to-be-a-series script, there is no better resource for them than Boosterrific.com!

Of course all goes back to a single source, but so did the first announcement of the script being ordered in the first place.

I had noticed that the story was starting to snowball. You're the one who brought it to my attention, M, and therefore deserve far more accolades for discovering the news than I do. However, I'm sure we both think Sneakpeek.ca deserves the real credit (which I've noticed many reposts about this story have omitted).

True but the most important news sources for everything Gold (Boosterrific and Russ's colum) did give sneakpeek the credit.

I for my part believe that for the moment the script is already greenlighted. After all we now not only have the statement from sneapkeek.ca about the script being done, but syfy had a press release this week regarding their future productions which also listed Booster Gold.

While it is still a far way from airing, or even filming, and a lot still can go wrong..for the moment everything looks good.

Accepting the script isn't the same as a greenlight for filming. The studio may like what it sees, but still require rewrites. Note that they haven't agreed on a title yet, which while not uncommon, does mean that they have reservations about something.

At this point, the studio will either ask for rewrites, cancel the project, or tell the production to go ahead with filming without making any announcement to the public, so I suspect that the next news we get to hear about the project will be casting reports. (Fingers crossed.) Who knows when that might be.

Do you think a SyFy series would drive up traffic to this site? I am pretty sure it won't sell any comic books. A merchandising tie-in would be fantastic, but that doesn't seem to happen much with live action shows.

You are quite right: movies and television shows DO NOT drive traffic to comics. I've paid attention for more than a decade, and there simply isn't any crossover action when a superhero gets the live action treatment. Those fans who will buy the live-action based comics were invariably already comic book readers. The number of non-comics readers who might pick up the book is so minuscule as to be irrelevant to comic shops and publishers alike.

Therefore, I don't expect that a BOOSTER GOLD television show would realistically drive a new market to BOOSTER GOLD comic books. DC will make the book and sell it to existing comic book buyers, some of whom may be sampling BOOSTER GOLD for the first time thanks to the show. While that doesn't mean much in regards to company profits, it's a good thing for fans of Booster Gold.

Increased awareness of Booster Gold will doubtlessly increase site traffic. Certainly, there was nearly twice as much traffic around here when Booster had a couple of books a month last year before the reboot. More people talking about Booster will lead to more people doing cursory research about Booster. And nowhere on the internet provides better info about Booster Gold than Boosterrific.com.

However, I don't expect that this site will be the leading beneficiary of the swelling interest. I suspect that those well-established sites that already have defined their connections in Hollywood and a large established base of fans for other shows, sites such as KryptonSite.com, will be the major benefactors of a show.

Some new fans will find their way here in search of Booster information, which I intend to provide. (If a show should materialize, I do intend to add a section to Boosterrific.com focusing on episodes as I currently focus on comic books.) Hopefully, some of those readers will become as enamored with Booster as the rest of us and choose to stick around.
