These alternate universe stories always get on my nerves. Did it start with Age of Apocalypse back in the day or was there one before that?
I'll get the Flashpoint main book just so I can make sense of what's going on in Booster Gold, otherwise what is the point of getting into the other books when they won't be around if you enjoy them.

I suppose technically the DC Multiverse Earth-2 stories beginning in 1961 qualify as "alternate universe" stories (eventually replacing one Batman/Superman with another). Marvel was publishing WHAT IF..? stories by 1977. AMALGAM comics came out in 1996, but the contemporary AGE OF APOCALYPSE was the first time that I am aware that an entire line of comics was canceled and replaced with an alternate version of itself.

Characters get reinvented every few years. But I have never understood why I should care about alternate versions of current characters that are simply going to be abandoned after the story is concluded. I never quite cottoned to Elseworlds or Hypertime stories, and I'm not onboard for FLASHPOINT, either.

(I know that there is an inherent paradox in the fact that I am chronicling time travel stories and I hate alternate history, but, yeah. You wanna make something of it?)

I'm not a fan of, say "Age of Apocylpse" but I like the idea of Flashpoint as much as I like the fun ride that was House of M at Marvel.
I see those like those ol' What if...? issues or DC's Elseworlds. It's not the same universe with characters turned bad or something like that, it's alternate universe where some decisions/choices turned tables completely!
A new completely different planet just because someone landed in Russia insteand of Kansas, someone else got a magic ring isntead of another, a similar story taking place in the 15th century instead of the 21st and so on...

The more imaginative the tales, the better~

One What if scenario that looked liked fun (but I have not read the comic) was the justice riders issue, with the KL (including Booster and Ted) as characters in the Wild West.

Generally I am not really that keen of having BG-Title "hijacked" by Flashpoint, but it might help to bring the numbers up again (together with Dan) and having Booster involved in such an Arc simply makes sense. Also at least the final FP-issue of Booster seems interesting.

Actually, I did like JUSTICE RIDERS. But moreso for the art of J.H. Williams III than anything else.

So has anyone given it a try? I for my part plan to only buy the regular BG title, unless TGHTWHNHO is seen in other titles in a notable role.

I'm hoping to get a peek between the covers of FLASHPOINT #1 tomorrow. Too busy for the comic shop today. :(

based open the reviews and comments available online:

No Booster, at least in any meaningful role, instead all the new/changed characters are presented like Cyborg. Of course this is not a complete no on any on panel appearance, but even if there is a small cameo it won't be enough for me to buy the title

I have a copy of FLASHPOINT #1 (donated to me by a friend who runs a comic shop).

For the record, let me state in my unofficial capacity as the chronicler of the complete adventures of Booster Gold that he definitively does NOT appear in FLASHPOINT #1.

May I also state that FLASHPOINT #1 was a letdown. That should probably be expected after over a year of hype, but I wasn't even really expecting that much. I think I made it clear that my expectations were pretty low. The book still did not meet my expectations. It felt considerably less than epic. I don't yet see any reason why this story couldn't have been told in a FLASH series.

You all already know that I'm the guy that hates everything. I didn't hate this book or this story. I just don't see any reason to care for it at all.

Reviews seem to be a little mixed on the sites I visited. Most seemed split on loving it or hating it and everyone else thought it was pretty "meh."
