Wow you remember SHAZAM? To this day, I still can't see a Winnebago without thinking that the owners might secretly be...

...stars of a really bad Saturday morning kids show :P

Confession: I'm just a little too young to remember it first-run. I have some friends a little older than me who were big, big fans of it at the time. Through them, I've seen most episodes, I think. It's... bad, but enjoyable. Once you run out of ADVENTURES OF SUPERMAN episodes, SHAZAM! fills the time nicely.

Confession: I'm a little too old to have been watching it (but I did). It was a "kids show" but I enjoyed it, like you said there wasn't much competition. I also enjoyed the original Battlestar Galactica (I bought the cylon faced dvd box set the day it came out), but it's target audience was also younger (right about your age group, I imagine). Which also seems to be the age group most opposed to the "new" BSG series, this relates to the way I feel about Superboy (the comic, not the TV show). I think that those younger viewers who saw Galactica "first run" were really affected by that event (oasn- I toured Universal Studios that year and got to see the sets for "War of the Gods" 8-) :geek:  ), so changes, ANY CHANGES, were viewed as BLASPHEMY (I get it, I really do, MY Superboy is currently running around ripping people in half!). The original GALACTICA was a MAJOR event, I've still got the double page newspaper ad announcing it's premier. Obviously it holds a special place in my memory. Having said all that, I LOVE the new series, best scifi show of the last decade, I admit some of the changes bugged me at first, What? Starbuck's a CHICK?! You gotta be kidding me! $#!+ !!!! But, since I was older when I first saw the original, I was able to accept those changes and just enjoy the story (Katee Sackhoff being a good actress didn't hurt either), I expect younger fans weren't so lucky. I have a good friend who is "of color" and around your age, Boomer was HIS childhood hero (you can see where this is going), his reaction was pretty predictable, Boomer's a WHAT!!? Also predictably, he H.A.T.E.S the new show, won't even give it a chance. I could go into a LONG diatribe on racism, sexism, cylonism, etc... but who really wants to hear all that? Just trying to stay boosterrific and tolerant of other people's views. :D

I guess my point is, depending on your age/race/gender, every show has something someone likes, and not every show is for everyone. And, no matter where you go, there you are :P

An ADVENTURES OF BUCKAROO BONSAI ACROSS THE 8TH DIMENSION reference? You are old, sir. (Now that's a must-watch movie for people who love comics!)

You're spot on about the original GALACTICA being about my age. I never much cared for the original, but I hate the new one anyway. Not because it is a remake, but because I just don't enjoy people being assholes to one another in a situation where it would take a team to survive. I prefer the optimistic Utopian society of the original STAR TREK to the dark and dire DEEP SPACE NINE. I'm dark enough, I generally don't want my cynicism reflected in my escapist entertainment.

I'm a Babylon 5 man myself. I almost got lynched at a Star Trek con once, for suggesting to someone that Gene Roddenberry actually WASN'T God ;) . I do like TOS and even TNG (mainly because in 7 years a few good episodes were bound to occur (Relics)), but DS9 was just a bunch of actors being snarky to each other (I understand that set was unpleasant to work on).

And (surprisingly) back on topic... I just read BATMAN: NOEL and thought it was an excellent example of sequential artistry.

Since we seem to be losing Booster's regular monthly appearances :x , and since DC still wants your money  , if you could (had to?) read only ONE DC book a month, what would it be?

"Aquaman" is pretty good, "Earth-2" looks promising...
, but "Batman" has been so good that it's almost worth the whole "New52" debacle, the "Court of Owls" story is certainly destined to become an animated feature. This book is why I STILL read comics :D . Now if they could just find a way to fit Booster in...
